Moved to new house few last month
Got Vodafone to get me broadband but the phoneline was dead.
So they told me I would get an Eircom engineer to reconnect the line in some 10 days.
Twenty days later I am told its going to take another 11 days before the engineer can make it.
Today I was called to see if tomorrow suits...but I have no one to fill in for me at work..so no..
Then I find out that the appointment next week is not at 14pm as promised but could be at anytime during the day.
If this casino roulette game of when will I finally get my phone line to work actually accidently will happen next week....then it's going to be another 15 (make that 28 days) before vodafone can actually give me broadband.
I have been told that you get your broadband in half the time in Siberia or the Congo.

I have given vodafone people and eircom people alike a piece of my mind....as I am stuck with no contact to the outside world for 2 months....and this is main street of a sizeabe village along a main national road. Happens the 3g mast of my provider is broken too in the area so no internet an choppy mobile calls.

This is not service by Eircom...this is an insult. Promising 10 days and then deciding to show up a month later at some random time during the day is absolute taking the piss with customers.
It is an insult. The wait started well beore the storms got very heavy so that excuse is not accptable.

Hi Hammered hippie

I'm really sorry to hear this and I'm sure this can be very frustrating. As you have requested this from Vodafone it is Vodafone whom you will need to contact, although eircom engineers install the line we have no access or insight to the status of line installations requested by Vodafone I'm afraid.

Thanks

And Vodafone tells me it is your Engineers that take so long.

THis is a case of shoving away responsibility and leaving it rest between two companies....the worst kind of malicious bureaucracy companies with a monopoly on services can bestow upon a helpless victim/customer.

The status is right now that Vodafone is waiting for your engineers to install the line. And you don't want to because Vodafone is your competitor..so that is why it is taking so long.

No consolation but I was talking to an aunt of mine yesterday re the local storm damage etc. her sil is a widow, living in the country, on her own, and has been without her landline since Xmas! It's an absolute disgrace. I can't believe it takes a "reputable" company 2months and counting to repair a line, even in the most isolated of places.
