Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No Hot Water, toilets not filling - what to do now?

    Hi All,

I am having a bit of a nightmare with the boiler at home. It's gas heating and the radiators are all working perfectly when the boiler is on. The toilets for some time now are not filling as quickly as they should so we have taken to filling them with water and then flushing (not ideal I know!)! Lately, the water has not been heating at all. We might have the boiler on for 2 hours and the water is still freezing! For a person who likes her morning showers this is pretty annoying.

I have booked a boiler service for a couple of weeks time, but just wondering does anyone have any ideas on a repair it yourself solution?

    Cheers :D

the boiler/hot water issue and the toilet are completely separate issues, so it's kind of hard to try and come up with a reason for the problems. Is the hot water flow rate slow, or is it just cold but otherwise OK.

There could be a number of reasons for no hot water, depending on if the system is a pressurised system or if it has a header tank in the roof, it could be air trapped in the system, or low pressure, or even a build up of limescale, which might also explain the slow fill on the toilet cisterns, so a boiler service on it's own may not solve all the issues, you might need to get a general plumber with boiler experience to check over the whole system.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
