Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dunphy is either drunk or he watched a completely different game

    Ludicrous statement from Giles!

Yep his decision to have Chez sent off was a bad one

His decision not to buy a striker was a disgrace. A young fella up front in the biggest game of the year.

You caused Bayern problems for the first 10 minutes but they were in control of the majority of this game including a large portion of it before the red card.

The red card and Bayern penalty hardly came against the run of play.

You watched a different game to me so if you think Arsenal caused problems for only 10 minutes

  • Administrators Posts: 54,111 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Also, the more replays I see the more I am convinced it is a red card. He would have got that no problem.

Arsenal were on top for the first 10 minutes or so.

The way people are talking here you'd think that the red card turned the game on its head. Fantasy stuff.

I'm not buying that at all not even one little bit, it took a red card for Bayern to gain control.

Yes there were portions were they pressed but just as much so did Arsenal up until the red card everytime Arsenal broke and Ox got on the ball Bayern looked scared and fragile certainly not an unbeatable team.

Agree with this, will cost them any league chances too

Toni Kroos, what a ****ing player.

Wenger's out of ideas and is holding Arsenal back at this stage.

If you're gonna troll at least do a decent job of it.

Arsenal were the better side until the red card and his decision to select Sanogo was vindicated imo. Giroud given his abysmal form lately wouldn't have done any better.

Nonsense statement. And i'm no Arsenal fan.

It's disaponting alright but it wasn't the cause of defeat tonight. Sanogo did well while it was 11v11

can't disagree with you there, we really should have invested in a forward. the only mitigating circumstance is top level strikers are hard to get and very pricey.
Having said that I would have expected a player with a bit of experience to be signed in the jan window.
Sanogo though looks like a prospect at least.

Bizarre to say that the red card didn't change the game drastically.

It was a red, but Arsenal were well in it up until then. Saw a graphic around the half hour mark that had both teams at 5 shots 4 on target.

What, of course it changed the game. Arsenal went down to 10 men, nobody has disputed that.

But this notion that Arsenal were all over Bayern until the red card is absolute fantasy stuff. Bayern were already on top of Arsenal before the red card happened, the red card just increased their control.

When you are down to 10 you need someone to hold the ball up and give defenders a break. He was never going do this. Feel sorry for the lad really.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Arsenal were flogging them. It was 50/50 up to the sending off imo.

Arsenal had shaded it imo. Both sides had good spells and Arsenal arguably had the better chances. Bayern were at sea in midfield 11 v 11 and only started to dictate when they had more space.

Berbatov for half a season maybe.

Drogba aside, I can't think of any striker that would've managed that tonight. Suarez maybe from a harrying and chasing point of view.

Having only 1 sub going into the second half didn't help Arsenal either. I was really hoping to see Podolski and Giroud as well as Rosicky.

Tbh we had so little of the ball and when we did it wasn't played his way to hold up. It's not as if it came his way and he was losing it .

It's a bigger problem for the domestic games

He was absolutely fine until the red card, at which point Giroud wouldn't have done any more. No service after that.

Who should he have bought then, o sage?

Given all the circumstances involved and how the game unfolded....fair play to Arsenal. Dug in really well.

First goal crucial in the Allianz.

Hmm Arsene, think saying we should have been 3 up is a bit dramatic.

Criticized Ozils penalty. Taking our penalty concession well.

Much more measured than Pellegrini anyway.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,111 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Surprised that Wenger commented on the penalty style to be honest.

I think the missed penalty really knocked the stuffing out of Ozil.

Berbatov? You are having a laugh. His legs are gone.

Maybe his FIFA stats are still ok though.

Bill: Could a case be made that Wenger is a one dimensional manager John?

Giles: I don't know what you're on about Bill. *cue Johnny going off on one*

Bill O'Herlihy, schooling us all in the art of trolling.

Did it though? He was a left back for the second half, and the stats don't support a perceived lack of effort. Sure he was poor, but we had nothing going forward after the red card.

Live interview on tv, he wouldn't refuse to answer the question. Sky were looking for something to fill their news headlines tomorrow morning. Thought he handled it well.

Interesting seeing Flamini bollocking Ozil there and Ballack saying he should be untouchable.

I wouldn't agree. No man is bigger than the team.

Weird hearing that coming from a guy that was down 3-0 down at half time in the final. Surely he, more than most should in the 'never give up' brigade.

Flamini would have been better off aking care of his own game rather than ranting at the rest of the tem.

He lost his man for both goals..
