Oran is good and I wouldn't mind living there myself. If you're thinking of buying a house there, then by all means spend a weekend walking around the area.

Great place to live with kids. Regular buses to the city, but you'll rarely need to go - there are 3 supermarkets and plenty of nice pubs, a cinema, 2 soft play centres and various other shops. And a shiny new train station too, if you're willing to mortgage your new house for a ticket anywhere.

Great place to live. We've been here 9 years and love it. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, pubs and a cinema. 3 primary schools (one all girls, one all boys and a gael scoli). Don't know much about the secondary school but it's supposed to be very good.
Renville Park is just down the road with footpaths all the way if you fancy a long walk or a nice run.
Like others have said, you won't end up going into the city too often (at least that's the case for us).
