For all the Corballis fans out there - the 5th hole taken yesterday morning at 8am. If that's not a world-class hole I don't know what is.

That photo belongs on a big wall somewhere. Or on an Irish Tourism website or some such.

    Stunning photo.

Note to myself. Bring a bucket of balls if you go to play Corballis. That is some tight fairways

So under-rated it's a crying shame. Some stunning holes.
His drive went about a mile right... which is better than a mile left. I wasn't playing Corballis, so he didn't know I was there.

Teed off at The Island an hour later. My friend birdied the 13th - using a six iron like yourself that day! Only difference, we had the wind behind us.

Had a 69 around there this year. I'm beginning to think that was my best ever round . And I'll never beat that around there.

    A 7 around every corner.

It is a much loved and hated course . Over talked about on here. But it is great for your game.

Heard a good one last Week . That Langar used to practice on it . Could that be true ?

Just seen it is true (lol).

My jaw hit the floor when i seen 69 there but then realised its a 5000 yard par 66 with 7 par 3s. Not taking away from the good score mind u ;)

Sounds like thats exactly what you are doing.

A 69 is a savage score around there. Well in Fix.

    Lol.

Sounds like a challenge :) Shot +4 in the heritage a few mths back at 7000 yards and water all over the gaff.
I know corballis is tight but with 7 par 3s and some very short par 4s, if i couldnt shoot 14 over there i think id give the game up

I'd love if you did. Your a legend golfer. But Corballis would give you a .1 back if your looking for it.

    In fact . I'll make it 4.

    One way bet.

If ever there was a course to chew you up and spit you out at a moments notice its corballis. And probobly moreso than all others. Its nigh on impossible to not balls up at least one hole out of the eighteen. And unlike most other courses, even on the calmest of days there you are equally prone to disaster at every turn. I love the place. And as for the 69 by FDP. I cant even imagine what a 69 round there looks like. Serious kudos to you, as impressive as it gets. Surely thats not far off a course record. That may sound strange to people not used to the place given that its short with plenty of par 3's but honestly I dont think it would be far off. Played there myself last friday. I shot considerably more than 69!

I know I know, but I dont think its far off. Hopefully someone knows the score for sure but im going stick me neck out here and say its level par. Think I saw a framed scorecard of 66 in the clubhouse a couple of years back.

Since it's a Corballis love-in, here's the short but deadly par three 6th

Corballis is top class and probably one of the most under rated courses in the whole world never mind Ireland.

Sub 70 that fix shot is spectacular and he hits a low stinging iron of the tee which is great for there.

Driver only comes out 3 times when I play it. The par 5 and the 2 crossing holes out back although I did hit driver on the hole Kevin has pictured. Not the right club even though I hit it well.

I can't remember for sure what I've shot around there but it's probably around the 5-6 over mark. Definitely not sub 70!

Tones you can't even compare corballis to heritage or the likes. It's a different animal. Heritage with it's wide fairways and big greens as targets. Corballis will put manners on the best of golfers if you don't know the place like the back of your hand.

Ah not comparing in that way, obviously diff courses, was just pointing out i thought it was odd fdp saying i wont break 80 but has never played golf with me. He could be right tho u never know,il have to go play it soon! Think the 3i will be gettin a workout :)

Have to totally echo the thoughts on Corballis , I joined it this year to improve my golf for championship play . As said it puts serious manners on you . You have to think and plot your way around as Apposed to hit driver everywhere. Don't be fooled by its length . A lot of big numbers aren't far away .

The targets are Im perfect proportion to the approach shots you have to hit , the margin for error is tiny and miss it on the wrong side of the green /hole and there can be little or no chance of getting up and down . I love the place . So underrated . If it was 7-800 yards longer and there was a decent clubhouse attached it would rival any of the big links On the east coast . It has to be the best value for money golf course in the country .

I started the year off +1.4 and drifted out to 0.4 after a few months there before getting Back to +1 recently . And I can honestly say I'm a far better golfer after now . I think a lot more about where to miss . If you have 36 points around Corballis you've golfed you ball.

Anyone I've brought there (and there's been a lot ) has loved the place . Greens are always good . There's a part of me that wants to tell everyone how good the place is and then there's a part that loves nothing more than having the place to myself at 6 in the morning on a sunny day .

The new course layout is only in existence since 2007 and I'm not sure how many times it would host something off the chamionship tees.. but as of a few years ago, there was a poster saying it was 66 there.

I've never see you play either but I think I remember you saying you were off 5-6 or so?

If so and the fact you've never played corballis id agree with fix that if you shot under 80 first time you will have played super and deserve your free pints.

It's by no means a fore gone conclusion though just because you're a low handicapper
