win7 repair infinite loop

So my laptop got stuck in a repair loop after I installed a load of updates. I don't have a DVD or backup or bootable whatever. Yes I am a fool. I managed to load a usb version of linux peppermint so I have retrieved all my data. Now how do I restore Windows? A clean install. Yes I have a legal version with the key on a label on the bottom of the machine. Help me.

Try the Advanced Boot Options menu by pressing f8 when you see the splash screen, when you boot up your laptop.

Rollie - I can get in that way but repair still fails. I can open advanced options to get to a command line. Could I just run win setup from there (x drive oem provided version from asus) to reinstall?

I dont think you can, you can only run some programs or tasks trought it without seen windows or something like that.

Is there a factory reset on the laptop?
I dont know what asus you have but here is one with factory reset.
