Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Plus remember Joey Dunlop was killed on a 250cc and Robert was on a 125cc.

Tbh I blow hot and cold on road racing, although I attend some races if road racing was banned I'd never say it was a bad thing either.

Or as I put it to my brother after Skerries, 'if my son told me he was going to put a bike on the track I'd say ''brilliant, you'll have a ball". But if he told me he wanted to road race I'd crap myself and do everything in my power to stop him'.

    James Cowton RIP

    Other way around..sozz

Yeah i know..it just that sick feeling i've had since the TT[/QUOTE]

Oh I know, I get you too. Without a ban, which isn't going to happen a 600cc restriction was another discussion I've had too.

The margin for error on (just about modern bike) is microscopic before you're hitting something solid with a hay bale between the rider, bike and object.

Either way you won't get an argument from me (I know you're not chasing one lol). Bike deaths effects us all equally (and I'm getting older and crankier too lol).

heres a really good read on the subject https://theiomtt.blog/2018/07/13/the-truth-about-road-racing/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Gotta say I would agree with the writer.

terrible losses this year hopefully we see no more

My day was going well until some old bollox reversed right into my bike today in Glendalough. He was a real dick about it too.

New rocker cover and mirror at the very least. Its going to Joe Duffy or Maddocks to get a look at, I am not skimping on this one. I think its a right of passage to get your bike knocked by some wánker though, right?

Take him for every little scratch. Those cans are expensive by the way !!

It’s a BMW, only a Ducati would be more expensive to hit.

Either way, if it’s scratched, marks or broken it’s getting fixed. I have a serious feeling that he just didn’t understand what he did, and how much damage he caused and how much it costs. He is in for a surprise.

Meh. I doubt the stupid b!tch who broke my leg gave much of a crap about the claim. They should have to pay injury damages personally imho, (i.e. refund personally over time what the insurer paid out) insurance just insulates them from the mayhem they cause.

    Scrap the cap!

I’ve been replaying it a lot, both of them just had no emotion over the whole thing, it’s baffling.

I don’t really want to hear from them, or the son in law who they told me is into bikes...whatever that means.

Insurance company is getting the call, and my bike will be back to it’s georgeous self soon. I’m with CN and I’ve heard good things when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Thinking Joe Duffey BMW or Maddocks to get her fixed.

LAds im telling ya. Lecky bikes are coming and there is no stopping them. Personally from a commuting point of view I would have no issues switching to an electric bike (or car) once the range was decent. I would feel safe with a range of 100 miles per day. My current NC with the Dual clutch transmission is a dream to commute on.

As mentioned I have a 99 blackbird that I ride on average once every fortnight. So its a happy medium,,, A fun sporty bike and a practical commuter.

There's hybrid scooters from Honda already but I'm holding out for a large capacity hybrid tourer rather than full electric.

Just on this, a friend of mine has put the fear in me now that I may not get the bike repaired how I want, due to me going through his insurance company, and how they might want to use a garage of their choosing.

Its a BMW and I think there are about 3 in Dublin that specialise in BMW bikes, and I want the bike back to how it was. The other driver is insured with Allianz, who dont cover bikes.

    Huh??
I always thought it was a garage of your choice!

Sorry it doesn't work like that at all. Your bike gets fixed by a BMW motorrad dealer end of . Nothing to do with what type of vehicle the other crowd specialise in.

Who are you with for your own insurance ?

So, it looks like some absolute scum may have attempted to nick my bike last night, but only succeeded in making a loud crack and waking up a neighbor.

Looks like they were trying to get past the panel here as I have a big aul ****ing clamp blocking the ignition. They've gone and fúcking snapped the plastic, so the screw holding the screen in place can't fit properly. No idea how to find a replacement for this.

Avail of their free legal advice. They'll assign a solicitor to take care of this for you.

100%. Like it or not Electric is the future- certainly for cars anyway. So many people I know trash anything electric and say its a fad, bullsh1t, in 5 years most premium cars will be electric/hybrid, within 10 it will be all. I drove a Model S and absolutely loved it, also I was in a BMW i8 and was seriously impressed.

For bikes, commuters etc electric will be great. I have a mate in San Franciso and he has one of those Zero supermoto style bikes. Takes the battery out and charges it under his desk. Said its the best fun ever. For superbikes I'm not so sure - maybe bikes will go hybrid too for extra power. Not sure a superbike with no noise will really work, not for the moment anyway.

Rossi seems to think differently watched him ride a superbike style electric there on his YouTube channel and he thought it was great . And Nico knows a thing or two about speed

Just off the blower to the insurance company.

I get to bring it to whatever garage I want, get a quote which then is passed onto the insurance crowd and happy days (hopefully).

Sooner this is all done, the better.

Not sure what your friend was on about, this is how it works all the time. His insurance company could dispute the costs and suggest a quote from elsewhere but they don't want the hassle so only ever dispute who was at fault but the other party has accepted liability and again the insurance company don't want any hassle so won't dispute it.

Thats what I was thinking too. I'll know the costs on Thursday anyway, he can't really dispute anything in terms of liability as he was driving into a parked bike. Live and learn.

Generally if your fully comp and crash, if it's your fault. Then you get told where your car will be fixed by them, the third party can pick where ever, provided it's reasonable.

Never understood people that can't back down even when they are completely in the wrong.

Barry Fields on Military Hill (021)4507190 did a great job on my car door. Might be worth talking to them. You'd have to bring the bodywork.
