I worked in the ESB and they were starting up a motorcycle club. They were deciding on a name and came up with the worse name ever at a meeting: The Bright Sparks.
I'd say the Devils Diciples would shít themselves if the bright sparks rode into town

I like it, 2 crossed spark plugs with a light bulb atop as their club patch :)

Well after my last Go Pro 3 Black Edition fell of the bike whilst doing a Marc Marquez impression nd turned very quickly into a lego set ,I took delivery of this bad boy yesterday. Smaller (housing is, but camera same size) lighter with a 40% better battery life and with the new "Superview" this is the daddy of cams. I have recorded a brief 5 min video and the colours are more vibrant and recordings are crisper.

    • What sort of storage is there?
    • Can it take a sim card?(upload over 3g/4g)
    • Is it wireless? (send over wireless to pc)
    • Can it be kept switched on and recording until it starts to overwrite the sd card?

Takes 64GB class 10 microsd cards.
    No to the sim card.
It is wireless (not all of them are)
It can be kept on and record in a loop yes. There are set time parameters 5,10,15 mins etc and you can also record and take pics at the same time.

Can anybody remember when the Aldi or lidl air compressors come out. Wouldn't mind picking up a cheap one. Just want it for tyres and cleaning, won't be using it for air gun or anything heavy.

I was going to get the compressor for 160 euro a while back but they had a recall on it the day before it went on sale. I held out until about 2 weeks ago when they released the smaller air compressor for 70 euro. Delighted with it so far. Comes with tyre pressure gauge and other fittings for balls, air mattresses etc etc.

Below has a few test video's...image stabilisation looks terrible, not good in low light conditions, considering this is Ireland you need lowlight performance.
    I personally would stay clear.

    Big gap without a bike:(

Could you not buy an old banger just till next feb?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,597 ✭✭✭Richard tea

    Has anybody else noticed?

Ever since I got the helmet camera I have noticed when cars around you notice the camera they all slow down and generally drive better. It must be a bit of a '' i dont want to be caught on camera acting the bollix''

A few weeks ago I was beckoned to stop at a Garda check point. As soon as I pulled in the Guard noticed the camera and said '' oh sorry must be a bit of confusion, we were not calling you in '' There was no other traffic around and im 100% he called me in.

Ive been asked at least 50 times now as to why I have a helmet camera. I would have thought it was blatantly obvious why you would have a helmet camera.

So anybody else that regularly uses a helmet camera, Do you notice other drivers behavior change when they notice the camera?

Yeah, riding tips could be good. But if it's going to be stickied I think all the crap should be cut from the thread, no chat or comments.

That video I posted has lots of it cut out. Supposidly lots of homoerotic stuff like this

It was that bad someone went to the trouble of cutting out all those bits! Even the name "twist of the wrist" sounds dodgy.
I've watched about half the video, some good stuff, I've learned a bit already.

Insurance is up next week so doing the whole ringing around ballsology.....currently with Adelaide so will try to stay with them.

Gonna ring Liberty, Carol Nash and AON see whats what. Not gonna bother with MCE they gave me a mental quote last year in the thousands!!!

Currently paying just over €400 fully comp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭aaakev

Liberty seem to be doing very good deals this year. I swore blind a few years ago id never go with them again but this year iv bike and car insurance with them!

They are the cheapest so far currently, but I have heard horror stories about them paying out. If the premium is only slightly dearer I would stay with Adelaide.

mask is slipping slightly with adelaide imo. Been with them for a good few years, and policy shot up last year. They tried to sneak it up considerably this year too. Im guessing theyve gotten the market share they were aiming for, and have changed tact

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

They gave me some waffle about a new quote system etc etc.....and they give you a price and then the ADMIN FEE on top shoots it back up again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,803 ✭✭✭prunudo

I'm in a similar position to yourself, insurance up next month, with Adelaide and they're the cheapest, quoted me €330. Liberty were looking for €370 and they're policy isn't as good!

Just got a call back from Adelaide and they can give me a "Special Discount" whatever that means. Pack of chancers the lot of them.....

So my new policy is €367 incld leathers and helmet cover, riding other bikes extension and pillion too. European breakdown for 45 days and full legal costs.

Not too bad on a litre bike with only 3 yrs NCB. :D

I am on the hunt for the insurance also up in two weeks. Unlike you I am getting charged mental money. I noticed a discrepancy in the number of years no claims bonus I had. Liberty had it down as 1 year but I should have 2 years. After a week of phonecalls to Liberty I finally got a human on the end of the phone with a bit of authority and I am now back to two years no claims bonus.

Adelaide are also the cheapest for me at the moment by about 400 quid. Waiting to hear back from CN and I will ring liberty again to see if they will beat Adelaide.

anything to try save a few bob.

Wonda that's a great quote. I did not even know they covered your helmet and leathers. Very handy to be able to ride other bikes and european breakdown will save you €100+ on a seperate policy if you do a trip.

The one thing I'd say lads is try to get FULL No Clams Bonus Protection - it doesn't cost that much extra. I put it on mine just a few months before my bike was nicked. My policy is up next month and hopefully I should not have any surprises. I had 5 years ncb and I was paying about €450 with Liberty.
