Carrick has always been a major weak link against any team that applies even a hint of pressure on him and partnering him with TC23 only makes matters worse.

Carrick is useless when pressurized, himself and Cleverley were like two 40 year old men out there tonight.
No bit of movement or mobility out of the two of them
Happy to just sit in front of the back 4 and play slow ,predictable passes sideways and backwards.
Can either of them take the ball and run with it or play a one 2 ?

How does Moyes expect to create something with those 2 in the centre, they'd get a nosebleed if they cross the half way line .
As bad as Young is ,he was the only player trying to do something in midfield, the other 3 were mannequins.

Rooney was back to his old ways again ,300k a week is some joke ,he is the most overrated player of all time .

He wasnt even slating Carrick per say, he just responded by showing the similarity in the interview and the overall attitude/performance tonight. Nothing wrong with that.

A bit of fight or passion would be nice to see from the players or manager
    Quote Keane when asked about about Carricks interview exactly as he said it;

“was like the rest of United’s performance – flat”

Back to my point, Carrick had the balls to have the interview. He looked really upset about the result but was never going to slate his players by name. He actually gave about as honest of an opinion as he could have without ripping his team in two like Keane did on MUTV. Moyes didn't even have an interview, I'm still waiting on Sky Sports news for it.

    Bad form by Keane.

If united played the whole game they way the played in the last quater, it would have been a total different game.

Last quarter ? They played 'ok' for about 5 minutes round about the 80 minute mark. Apart from that, they were desperately poor.

Well maybe Carrick should have had the courage to do something about it on the pitch like Keane did in 99 against Juventus when 2-0 down away from home and play like a proper central midfielder ?

Carrick was awful tonight ,he is out of his depth ,he was like an old man out there.

It is common knowledge though, it isn't Carricks fault that he's being picked and there's nobody better

It's like saying why didn't Welbeck score a hattrick when he came on, it's common knowledge Welbeck won't usually score

I never doubted that Carrick had a bad game even though the whole team / management were accountable and you let your love for Keane blind you ...

again my point was about the interview if you read my posts clearly...Keane had a swing at him and it was so obvious

Just caught the 2nd half on +1...as good as the result was it was a poor, sloppy game.

Van Persie really seems to have a habit of bottling big chances in the CL ( V Milan for Arsenal, Madrid last season, and tonight.)

Would still expect United to win the second leg though.

Van persie bitching to dutch tv according to twitter:
    Hard Manc ‏@LMMancMUFC 41m
RVP when asked on Dutch tv whether he knows what is wrong with United ''Yeah but, I won't point fingers, because I'm not like that.'' #MUFC
RT @football_oranje: Van Persie "Then I have to change my tactics to suit my teammates, and play outside my zone. That's a pity (NOS)
RT @football_oranje: Van Persie, "My teammates are in some of the areas where I want to play. This makes it difficult for me." (NOS)

not like him to stab folks in the back.

Your post sounds like Hyde out of That 70's show, pure Zen but no logic.
Explain to me what I don't get exactly. That we need a cnut Keane again.

I think we can all agree that we need a world class CM again like Keane which we haven't had for years. What we don't need is his ****ty manners he's a dickhead and always will be in my opinion for various reasons.

His manner was terrible towards an interview of a Player after a match. Completely unrelated to the performance other than his analogy that it was Flat.

MUTV honest he should have been so

The arrogance of many United fans (the one's who think the Premier League is the bestest bestest league in the world), who are calling Olympiacos crap, will be even more surprised when they get at least a draw in Old Trafford, if not an away win. Take out Rooney and Van Persie, and player for player, Olympiacos have more quality in their team, and they won tonight without two of their regular starters.

United have a middling Premier League team, with two top players. Ferguson used to get the best out of this very limited team, who performed above themselves for the last few years. Now their top manager is gone, so they are in a league position that the quality of their squad merits. It made for hilarious reading at the start of the season, with United fans saying they would get at least a top 4 spot, this opinion based solely on the fact that they are Man United.

It made great viewing tonight it must be said. I love hearing United fans harp on about them just being awful due to internal matters (tactics etc...) and if they actually played well would beat this crap Olympiacos team. Olympiacos didn't let them play, because they are better (Moyes or no Moyes) and have more quality through-out their team

There are so many things wrong with this Manchester United team and the club right now.

In twenty years of watching Manchester United, this is the worst I have seen of them. Ridiculous.

Ya, because romans million dollar babies have been in there so long!

You'd think united don't buy players they way you harp on about other team's spending.

United spent £170m on tonight's starting 11 and another £53m worth of players on the bench.

I know your very biased and deluded when it comes to United, but you do realise United only played like that in the last quater, due to the fact that the Olympiacos playmaker Dominguez got taken off as they were so comfortable? Hence they didn't retain possession as well and gave cheap ball back to United, which drew United onto them. Had he stayed on it was the same old story, and United certainly weren't let play like that for the previous three quarters when he was on

No we played like that in the last quarter because we had a player on the pitch who was able to bring our strikers into the game rather than having them starved of possession hence the golden chance for RVP.

BTW don't presume you know I'm very biased and deluded when it comes to United, everybody is allowed there opinion so watch you manner your starting to sound like Keane

Then why did any chance they got and their slightly better showing come about in the last 12-15 minutes, when Dominguez came off? You do realise Kagawa was on since the 60th minute? And United continued to play exactly the same until about the 78th minute?

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

Just seen the highlights there. Ferdinand for the 2nd goal was a disgrace comes sauntering out to close the ball and then turns his back on the shot.

I agree, with the amount of gametime Kagawa has got in the last month he should have been up to speed in his first 15 on the field.

Yes true, but what are you expecting for Kagawa to have an immediate impact after a non start for the last 4 matches at a minimum hell no.
It took him only ten minutes to carve an opening. If he had have started the match he would have carved multiple openings in the first half in the position he was playing in like he did against Leverkusen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,635 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

I'm not suggesting Kagawa wouldn't have had an impact had he started, but United's chances in the last 10-12 minutes were down to Dominguez coming off. Unless you all just believe that was a big coincidence?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,859 ✭✭✭Courtesy Flush

I dont think I have seen a worse United performance. Could barely string a pass together. How can Moyes play a two man midfield with players as limited as Cleverley and Carrick.
They still can score two or three against them at home. The Greek team could fall apart at Old Trafford, but I wouldnt bet against them getting an away goal either

Whenever Kagawa is on the pitch our link up play goes from as low as zero to good, nearly all supporters acknowledge it's no coincidence at this stage

No again my point is regardless of Dominguez starting or coming off, Man Utd had more of a chance to win the game against this Greek side if they lined up the way they did in the last 15 mins with Kagawa in the position he was moved into when he came on as a sub.
