    Hi,

Looking for recommendations for cream custom made units to be built into the alcoves either side of a fireplace. Not sure if I'm looking for solid wood or MDF (is there a big difference?)

Ideally we would like two cupboards on the bottom then shelving above with glass doors on one and space for TV and open shelving on the opposite unit.

Does anyone have any recommendations in the Kildare/Dublin/Meath area or have even a rough idea what I could expect to pay for this?

    Thanks

MDF is going to be the least expensive but the shelves will need reinforcing if the span is over 16" or so. Otherwise one of the poplar woods ( yellow poplar is everywhere ) would paint well and not that much more expensive. You will need to use solid wood for glass framed doors in any case.
