2 Electric Showers

    We have an electric shower and a mains shower but thr water is never hot enough to use the mains shower. I believe there is a switch you can install which allows you to have 2 electric showers in the house but ensuring that they cant be both used at the same time.

    What is this switch called and is there alot of hassle to get it installed and what sort of cost is involved? Does this switch pass all the regulations for house insurance etc.

    Its called a priorty unit. Think they cost in or around 120 euro , about the size of a single row consumer unit. You sure this is the only way to go? 2 instant showers is not a great setup.

    Why would it not be a great set up? I know nothing about all this so basically our mains shower has not been used for years cos the water is never hot enough. Our water is heated from a solid fuel stove but its never piping hot, so we use the immersion but if we used the mains shower, the water ends up going cold half way through having a shower. So thats why we thinking of converting it to an electric one.

    they're fine for quick showers where you don't have the stored hot water ..as long as you buy quality (shower)units


    the wiring must comply with regulations,not just the controller

    If its a mains fed shower does it not heat the water itself? What make of shower is it? We had a Triton T80 mains fed shower at home and it always heated the water as it passed through it and done it well.

    i think he means off the water cylinder..

    as you say the instantaneous showers can be mains or tank fed

    The poster must mean a mixer shower which has water from the hot water cylinder and the attic storage tank going to it, mixing to acquire the required temperature, sometimes via gravity, sometimes with a pump, usually called a power shower when there is a pump involved.

    Or a t80 with poor mains pressure
