Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why not just stop fans traveling then?

    It's not a football issue.

Because that would reward cities for violent attacks on fans. You are not discussing this topic honestly.

No, I just don't agree with punishing clubs for things that have nothing to do with them.

Thats sweeping it under carpet to easily. Any genuine fans shouldnt be wearing the clubs colours and causing trouble because it gives the club a name and image that it doesnt deserve due to a tiny miniority of fans.

    technically yes.

they're also technically innocent when people shout racist abuse in their stadium - how can they control what people shout? - but still get fined for it.
they can issues warnings & ban/block people who they know/suspect of it but still can't control people in the ground.
juve fans got banned for abusing napoli, replaced by nice innocent school children. except they also shouted at the udinese keeper & juve got fined

banning a club playing at home would be more of a punishment to their supporters than fining the club.
is it fair? probably not but you're not going to achieve fairness in the situation anyway

It's the reality, Gav. Of course fans should conduct themselves well and as ambassadors of the club. And while fans see themselves as being /the/ club and its representatives, the reality is that they are not. They have nothing to do with it, and the club isn't responsible for them and can't be held accountable for their behaviour.

What a club can be held accountable for is the safety and conduct of fans whilst they are on their premises, that's it. They have zero responsibility for every nutter in the world who decides to throw on a replica jersey, head into town and kick off.

    That's an appeal to emotion.

You could allow fans from from both teams but it would be easier to prevent known troublesome fans from preventing them from travelling on the days before the match.

I would make it away fans only and the people at that sort of crap would stop because people who support the team won't be too happy with them .

I would have to agree here.

Bringing the home fans will cause trouble too. If its only away fans into the stadium you will see change in attitude.

I can see your issue. There's no simple solution to this problem. But you chose to argue your side by asking ridiculous questions and having a pop about the level of the discussion when people patiently responded to you.

What can a club do to stop visiting fans being attacked away from the ground while matches aren't even going going on by people that don't have anything to do with the club and may not even have the tenuous link of having once bought a jersey?

Just to be clear, the Ataturk thing isn't literally blasphemy, he's not a religious figure. Turkish people don't tolerate a bad word against him however and it's actually illegal to insult him in Turkey.

That 'blasphemy' story was mentioned to me by some Turks in Germany though. Of course he is not a religious figure, but still, any insult towards Ataturk is dealt with in the same manner, blasphemy would be, from a court's point of view.
