cancel booking with credit card

    I booked a room with a MasterCard a few months ago and when I went to cancel it a few days ago due to bereavement. I was told that I have to pay full amount and they wont budge. Is it possible to cancel Credit Card so payment wont come out? any advise appreciated

    Did you book it online? as in did you get a confirmation email.
    They usually have the booking terms and conditions in them.

    Sometimes hotels offer special prices based on no cancellations being allowed.

    ..and no, cancelling the card doesn't absolve you of making the payment. The charge would still be placed on the account, and the card company would bill you for it
