I'm running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

    When I try to run Windows Update, I get the following error;

    Error number: 0x80244019

As a result, I can't install FixIt, because I can't install Service Pack 3, because of the error message in when trying to run Windows Update.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks. ;)

    D.

Ps. And when I try to install Active X, I get the following error; "Error number: 0x80240036"

    ?

Download the SP3 redistributable from here and see if it installs. This may sort the problem. :)

    Yoyo,

    Thanks. That worked.

I was then prompted to install over 100 "Security" updates and some other Microsoft stuff, which I did.

Now, my Firewire express card and my camera are no longer connecting.

Before I revert to where I was, how might I try and fix that connection?

    Thanks.

Ps. When I power up the camera, there's a yellow exclamation mark over it in Device Manager, and if I right click on it and choose Update Driver, I'm told there's nothing better and the exclamation mark stays. ;(

    Sorted, I hope.

I left the camera switched on and connected to the computer.

I then right clicked on it in Device Manger and chose Disable.

    I then restarted the computer.

It detected the switched on computer and searched online for a driver.

It's now working. Hopefully, it stays that way!

Thanks for your help on Service Pack 3.

I disconnected everything and then booted up the computer and reconnected the card and the camera.

    Not detected again.

    Very annoying.

    Wonder why?

This is what it says under properties for the camera in Device Manager...

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Any help appreciated. Otherwise I'll revert back to pre SP3.

Check to see if the Firewire camera has an updated device driver, if there is try installing that and see if it helps!

Boot to safe mode, delete any unknown devices and/or your camera driver.
Boot to normal mode, install your camera driver from the manufacturer's website.
Plug your camera in when it tells you, or after you have completed the driver installation, whichever comes first.
