    hi,
just bought a lenovo e540 with fingerprint reader. i was able to enrol my fingerprints, but can't seem to switch it on, so that i can use that instead of a windows password.
    anyone any help to give?

What OS are you using. When you say you can't turn it on, do you mean you don't know how or it's not showing up as a login option?

its windows 7 pro 64 bit.
i'm not sure how i suppose, but actually i think i have been getting it right, but there's something i'm missing.
i go into lenovo fingerprint software, and all it allows me to do in enroll fingerprints, nothing else.
when i go to windows password in control centre, i can remove it, replace it, or change it, but have still not found how to use it as the logon method. now i have managed to set it up to some degree, as sometimes when i go bak into lenovo fingerprint software, i can swipe my way in, but thats as far as i've gotten.

    Have you tried everything here:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-58403

The later part seems to deal with a power on password which also has to be enabled in the BIOS. This would be seperate from a Windows login though AFAIK
