Anyone watching the UK one which has started tonight?

I'm looking forward to a bit of positivity and optimism for a change :D

I have it set to record.

I'm watching it late on record, and won't get to see the end of it - but oh my goodness it's like being on a different planet....

A veritable sea of optimism and praise, and looking for the good in everything (even though there wasn't a whole lot of good to be found in one contestant's dishes, but they still managed to be nice about it!).

    A VERY refreshing change!

I don't like the way the heats have been done this year. As others have said the two that were sent home tonight would have been top of the group in the other heats. It's very unfair not to have some sort of second chance for them. The girl who did get through tonight was doing plenty of flirting with Dylan. Maybe that influenced his decision ;-)

Most of the contestants on the Irish version wouldn't be fit to wash the dishes of those on the British.

    Can't disagree with you there.

So last nights episode had one pair arranging food in the restaurant and one pair cooking food. How does that work, ends up that the one who cooked and did quite well ends up going home, shtop. Delighted Greg and John are back.

Jaysis, wish I could've had that level of food when we had our event there. But that stuff is pricey!

    Smoked salmon BELLINI canapes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,269 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

There's more feckin hurling in this programme than cooking

Why can't they show more of the actual cooking.....

There's those smoked salmon bellinis again.... you'd think the narrator might manage to get it right!

I think this programme has kind of run its course. Sorry but I have to say its really dull.

    Can't say I disagree.

No disrespect whatsoever to the contestants, I think they're done a serious disservice on the Irish programme. It's interesting (while being slightly depressing) to watch the UK one simultaneously.... it's hard to believe they're the same franchise.

Whether it's down to the producer/director/editor and/or those godawful judges, the Irish programme really is a disappointment.

(But rebelgourmet was great - a close second for the day off, I'd have said!)

Not liking the half hour format at all, there is no real flow.

Can't beat Masterchef Australia - the set-up; the judges Gary & George are enjoyable to watch!; the hour-long episodes; the master-classes; the celebrity chefs; the entire format and editing.

Can't get into Masterchef Ireland 2014 as yet.

    Coddle :eek: and tripe :eek::eek:

There's something about boiling sausages that just turns my stomach!

Too much deconstruction going on here methinks.....

Jaysus Hugh, could you fit any more into that menu d'you think???

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,269 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Mmmm, Nick's plate of food looked very tasty indeed! Even if it didn't exactly qualify as a stew....
