Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking to get a scooter for a short commute. Probably lucky to do 10 mins drive a day. Sick and tired of bumper to bumper traffic in car every morning.

Someone selling an 04 Aerox with 17,000km on it. Have no clue about scooters but 10 years in cars. so what should i be looking out for? Is that crazy high mileage or just average?

    Cheers

For a 10 year old scooter it sounds about right.. 1700km a year.

One thing that would make me walk is if the original exhaust has been replaced with one of those power-pipe yokes..

If it has one it may have been owned by a kid at some point and maybe throttled within an inch of its life..

I wouldn't be putting too much sway on the mileage of the bike, but 17000 km is nothing, I'd be concerned if it has gone the whole way round the clocks though ie 117000km. I'd be looking at the state of the bike, its tyres, engine noise, whether its taxed etc
Compare other bikes for prices etc on donedeal and adverts

If its a commute you want I'd check out a Honda Cub 90.. They're holding their own with price but get a nice clean one cheap and you won't go wrong.

IMO 17k on an Aerox or similar is a lot of milage as they're rev'ed pretty hard to get them to go anywhere.

If its exceptionally cheap (and it would have to be) I'd be looking at something else.

I wouldnt exactly say that, if they havent been messed with the cvt keeps the engine at its optimal rpm that yamaha designed it to run at, that said at 17k id be more worried about the condition of the top end on such a little engine :)

Shame they stopped making the little cubs few years ago. Believe they were making cubs since before I was born in 1980.
