    Hi

I need an amp with multiple HDMI ports (4) which can handle 5.1 or higher spec sound, I also need a soundbar to connect into that.

My limit is €500 or so, if you have one that would work that would be great.

    The background is as follows:

My tv had 2 hmdi ports, I have xbox (hmdi out optical out), htpc (hmdi out), blu ray player (hdmi out) and tv box (hmdi out optical out).

I was thinking i could hook 4 hmdi into a sound sytem and have that go into one of the hdmi ports on tv, then have a soundbar hooked up to the sound system. I know multiple speakers would be better but unfortunately  I cant use multiple speakers around the room at the moment.

    cheers

Hi there, thanks for the post.

This is a little unusual as you would be using the amp just to do HDMI switching and not using it connect any speakers to. The control method would be rather awkward to get around as well so it's not really a setup I would recommend.

Could you put up with having 2 speakers wired to the amplifier, instead of using a soundbar at all ?

If you could, then you could go for :

    http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/tannoy/mercury-v1i/tann-merc-v1i-dk-wal

    http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/yamaha/rxv475/yama-rxv475-blk

This would work out at around 500 Euro and to be honest would know the pants off the soundbar.

Let me know what you think.

    Hey dave

Thanks a mil for your help.

They both look impressive, love your description of how speakers beat sound bar :)

One final question, re that receiver, should i choose to get additional speakers for full surround sound down the line(I most defo will !), would I be able to get wireless speakers to connect to that?

    cheers

Daves good - just not as good as me..

    How about this:

Pioneer VSx423 Av receiver with 4 HDMI and 5.1 - partner that with the new Monitor Audio Radius One which is esentially a passive soundbar - all massively discounted to (almost) within budget at €530 - does exactly what you are looking for ( although I would add a sub asap if it was me)

    Have a look here:
    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/radius/radius-one/

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist,

    Hi lads

Ive decided, im gonna go with this https://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/yamaha/rxv475/yama-rxv475-blk

I added that to the basket for online orders and posting the dublin area, however the tannoy speakers are not available for online orders.

Can you recommend another set of speakers from your site please, I had originally wanted a sound bar, but my ultimate plan down the line is to have a full surround sound system, so i figure sound bar would be defunct at that point. So i wanna start for 2 good speakers to put beside the tv, then expand to the rest over time for full set up.

    really appreciate this
    cheers

Hi Melb, thanks for the post.

The Yamaha is a very nice receiver and a good starting block for a decent system.

Which Tannoy speakers were you looking at ?

Are you restricted for size or colour and at some stage are you likely to upgrade the system to a 5.1 system ?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    Regards

    Dave

    Hey Dave

Its these speakers here : http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/tannoy/mercury-v1i/tann-merc-v1i-dk-wal

    It says not available online.

Ive no real preference for size or colour, I will most definitely be upgrading to the full 5.1 system.

My only limit is €500 for the receiver (https://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/yamaha/rxv475/yama-rxv475-blk) and speakers for beside the TV, if you have deal going on speaker set that would give me good quality 5.1 surround and they manage to come in under my limit, then ill gladly go with them.

    thanks again

    Melb2ib,

many thanks for the post and apologies on the delay getting back to you....

    How about the RXV475 with the Tannoy Mercury V1i http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/tannoy/mercury-v1i/tann-merc-v1i-dk-wal at £379.95 / €474.99 with £12.99 delivery - so your total would be £392.95 / €489.99..

If you preferred we could also offer the Monitor Audio BX1 http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/monitor-audio/bronze-bx1/moni-audio-bx1-blk with the RXV475 at the same price - the BX1 are £199.95 on their own and this would allow you an easier upgrade path to a 5.1 system as you can add the BX Centre, BX FX as rears and either the BXW10 or the MRW10 Subwoofer - all of which you can add on one unit at a time of course as budget allows - you could also use your BX1's as rears and add the super BX2's as fronts at a later stage??

On the budget 5.1 system to come in under €500 - we can do this with something like the Pioneer SHS100 5.1 system, but I think your own idea is better - to start with a 2.0 system of excellent quality and build as budget and space allows..

Apologies again for the delay getting back to you and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

    Best regards,
