    Hi guys,

Last year we launched our fire safety website but not before getting some amazing feedback from all the people at boards. People were frank, honest and incredible helpful.

We're now rolling our our new security website, specialising in CCTV and alarm systems and solutions. Would be very grateful if anyone would like to review and offer us your feedback.

    The url is http://securetech.ie

    Thank you in advance.

    Brian

    Probably should have also included:

I would really like to get some feedback on:

    1. Do you think the site is trustworthy
    2. Is there enough information for your to get a quote (if you had a need) and if not what else would you need?
    3. How is the cll back process - would you fill it out?
    4. Would you still prefer to call instead or get the call back
    5. Would you be influenced by a) cost b) quality or c) fitting and maintenance, if you were going to choose a provider.

was very slow to load on my iPad!! not good at all, you need better hosting!!
    There is no "home" button.
The quick quote is too much in your face before you have had a gander at the site!
Would like to see your official registration number etc prominently on the site/bottom header.
don't know what that Airbub logo is doing flashing at the end of the page !!
    The 100% Irish is overdone.
You need to use the space above the "fold"to catch the punter! that is the page one initial screen view.

Not trying to bust your balls here, but the big typeface is overkill in my view.

    Hope this helps

    Peter

You Google Map is wrong.Your lo-call number is not displayed properly on home page. You claim to be a leading supplier but you have nothing on site to back up that claim, no client list or customer testimonials

Overall this is a great looking site! Modern, sleek and simple. The colors and pictures chosen are perfect.

    Two things tough:

-There's a picture missing in the rolling menu at the top (two of the three slides have images...)

-As Peterdalkey said, it's pretty slow... and i'm on a desktop!

Image like this do not help speed
    - 849px × 565px (scaled to 244px × 162px) 126.33 kB
    2,336px × 1,587px (scaled to 244px × 166px) 613.56 kB
Also using png instead of jpg for photos makes a big difference to file sizes
Some of your transparent background png are on white background so could also be changed to jpg

The "Get a quick Quote" is a pain on a mobile it obscures half the screen and nowhere to enter details.

When you find the contact form at the bottom of the page the "Get a quick Quote" obscures that as well

    Terms & Conditions
    Cookie Policy
    Company information
    Data Collection & Usage Policy

All above are missing - that alone is sufficient for me to lose confidence in a site like this.

site looks good. actually it looks very good. Loads ok on my desktop.

useful Google tool here with recommendations for speed https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=www.securetech.ie

your scores using that tool aren't bad at all but can be improved relatively easily.

good use of call to action above the fold with the 'get a quote'

From a purely Sales point of view, as a potential customer, I would love a live chat facility option (again displayed prominently above the fold) where I could live text chat with someone. But that could be a resourcing issue.

All in all a nicely designed site. I havent checked on a mobile device though.

EDIT: not sure what the relevance of the AirBNB image on the bottom of the page is (it links to securetech.ie)

I’m not looking for a debate, I’m just giving my opinion.

I regard the site as very poor. What is its purpose? Is it to show off ‘techy’ web design stuff with bells and whistles? or is it to attract customers/business? For me it fails miserably on the latter. The site is far too busy, poorly laid out, gives absolutely no idea of cost and many of its webpages are too similar/repetitive.

The biggest issues in the security sector are integrity, openness and honesty (which is why it had to be cleaned up some years ago.) Being 100% Irish matters not a damn. You have no ‘affiliation’ to any recognized body (If you are and it’s on your site it is not easily found). That missing, the next thing I looked for was who is behind the business. Blank. Your ‘’About us’ page is total waffle and tells me nothing about the people I’m dealing with. Not even one name. I’d expect a brief bio, qualifications, etc of at least the MD and senior engineering guy.

Lots of clichees / hackneyed expression on every page about how great you are, commercial, government, retail, etc but not one single endorsement. ‘A ‘cores services group firm’ is pretentious unless ‘core services group’ has a meaningful business. Why two contact numbers in different locations? Why not put them together?

You talk about monitored alarms, 24 / 7, etc and have very ‘sexy’ photos. Are the important ones for real? Is the guy in the uniform an employee? Are they in your offices? Is what you are selling the same as what you can deliver? If not, you will be found out very quickly.

Do you need all those images? Do you think they add or distract from your offer? Google search brings up loads of same name businesses, many in the US. The .ie domain does not appear on the first 2 google pages.

There are so many pages it is easy to get lost. Too many of them are repetitive, same old, same old. I, like many, don’t like having to scroll. What percentage of potential buyers will look at it on a device rather than on a desktop? Keep it simple, be honest, cut the clichés and fit it on a normal sized screen.

Why not do deals/get permission from insurance companies allowing you to state that they endorse your product and will give a discount when it is fitted? (All insurers give a discount when a monitored alarm is fitted).

The site would not entice me to linger/browse and certainly I would not bother to go further (I only went further to give a response to your post!)

I like the site it loads quickly and is well presented.

I have a question however if I contract your company to install a security system and I then suffer a break in or other property damage, do you offer me compensation as you have ensured me my property is 100% secure ?.

Why buy for (from) us, should be changed.

If I see the same phrase used more than once on the first page I put it down to hasty production.

100% Irish, 100% secure, I'd personally drop the 100% in both instances.

My initial thought was that it was done through Wordpress.

I simply added /wp-admin to your domain and this was confirmed.

Overall, I did think it was okay.

Ask your designer/developer to put all the .png files through www.tinypng.com to significantly reduce file size & load time.

Had a look at your site on PC not as confusing as Android fair Number of spelling errors. For instead of From on home page, PSA logo links to nothing 100% Irish owned links to nothing why dont you just join the Guaranteed Irish Scheme which would assure people of your Irish credentials

    First impressions.

Great professional design. Great name. Strong logo.

    Business Issues
    ==========
Your other site, if I remember correctly, was doing safety equipment. This should be included on your site. Remember, businesses love turnkey solutions. They love buying from just one supplier instead of one cheque for the fire extinguisher company, one cheque for the CCTV company...Offer a turn-key solution for your customers.

Just another CCTV company - A lot of business owners I know of use CCTV to check their premises remotely from their smartphone or laptop. For them, this is very important. The integration of Cloud / web with CCTV is an area you should look at , rather than just being "another CCTV company".

    Design / Copy Issues
    =============

Text and Graphics need to be made smaller. E.g. way too big.
    http://securetech.ie/contact-us/

    More Human Less Business Speak
    =====================
    "one of the Ireland's leading..."
    "world-class"
    "highly qualified and experienced engineers"
If a salesman walked into your average Irish office and started using this language he would loose credibility immediately. The same applies to websites. Cliches sound hollow and do not work.

    Credibility
    =======

I know you're only starting off but testimonials are crucial. Get testimonials from anybody.

Secondly, as another poster has pointed out. You are a service business, you need to tell a little bit about yourself and your staff. Evidence that your company exists beyond a website and a physical address would be nice e.g. pictures of your work, pictures of your uniformed staff.

    Your Clients Buying Process
    =================

Understand the buying process of your clients inside out. Realise that potential clients do not wake up some morning saying " oh we need a new CCTV system, the one we have is quite old" Some will be buying CCTV as an insurance requirement. I am not au fait with this market but there might be need for some suppliers / CCTV systems to be approved by insurance companies. Make sure you are aware of all current compliance requirements your clients have to meet and mention these on your site.

Creating a business is not easy. Ditto for a professional website. You will get there in the end! Good luck.

First impressions of the site, screamed WP template. As others have pointed out using images of other people doesn't really work. The badly cropped image of the lady with a micro phone needs to be redone or removed. The over use of "Our" on the about page is off-putting. You need to tie down / refine the UX. I feel the 100% irish is more suitable for the food industry, to emphasise traceability. You need to have a strong brand identity to differentiate yourself from the competitors. Look at the overall look and feel of the visual elements, and strive for continuity.

    Best of luck with it

Hi guys, Really Really good feedback - thank you very much . It's one if those things you simply need to soundboard out and face the music : ) will take on all the feedback and get working on it over the weekend.

Why is there an Airbnb logo above the footer?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 388 ✭✭Atomico

The biggest issue to address is bringing some personality into the site. As it stands you could probably go to a Wordpress theme site and purchase your exact website off the shelf. There is no trace of your brand identity there at present, so that's something to remedy.

Looks very well. When you start to gain traffic, you should consider doing a split test of the homepage. Try testing a version without the slider as well as with. Use something like Visual Optimizer for the testing. Sliders might look pretty but are typically damaging to conversions. And conversions are what matter most after all. http://conversionxl.com/dont-use-automatic-image-sliders-or-carousels-ignore-the-fad/

A few things to think about.

1 - Why is Airbnb logo there?.

2 - You have way to much information on the index/home page. Customers will spend to long taking everything in. What do you want customers to find on the index/home page.

3 - Why do you mention 100% Irish owned twice on the index/home page ?.

4 - The design looks like a free basic template which you have not modified.
