Anyone able to recommend some companies that run training camps?
Myself and the OH have flights booked to Faro for April and the crowd we were going booking with seem to have gone to ground, so looking for alternatives in case they dont come back. Ideally half board, bike and pool hire
    Cheers

I was planning on building my own one...are you still planning to go to Faro? I've a smashing pm from cunavalos who organises his own warm weather training with a load of info if you want me to forward it on...it's not about faro though but might be of use to you...

A couple of people from my club have used Tri Training Harder before and have all had great things to say about them! I met one of the coaches last year and she was great!

I've done training camps - Cyprus and Italy(a few times).

One thing I can say with alot of certainty is that 90% of people on the camps aren't up for them. Most get sick or injured there or on the return.

If you aren't training properly and haven't been for some time view them as a cycling holiday and enjoy rather than a training camp and crushing yourself.

I should nearly stick a banger of a bike on that truck and leave it over there for my "yearly high summer training camps".

These were the cheapest bike hire shop I came across, I ended up not using him as he was too far away from where I was but he seemed ok

    http://www.algarve-bike-hire.co.uk/pg-bike_hire_prices.html

I ended up with this Pedro guy http://www.bikeland.pt/shop/, a little more expensive, if I had brought stuff like shoes and pedals with me I would have done better, but I got a decent Scott Speedster off him that I was happy with about for an extra ten bucks you would get a Scott CR1 (I actually really liked the Scott bikes to ride)

He only gave me a flimsy lock but he said where I was hanging around there would be no danger of it being stolen. There is some nice mountain biking to be had in the Formosa national park if you decide for a change

Monchique is the biggest mountain over there and I spent a good bit of time around Querenca, theres a great descent into the hill and once you get up the top there are some dirt cheap cafes compared to the usual rip off price of the beers in the tourist resorts - go up Barrancho de velo as well which is a great spot and a decent climb

There is a 50m outdoor pool in Loule and they have an indoor 25m in the same place, very cheap, make sure and do a few runs on the beach, it seems to never end but I wouldn't swim ow that time of year for too long, Atlantic will be cold

Some nice restaurants in Vale de Lobo and Quinta de Lago and make sure and stop off in the marina in Villamoura for a coffee stop
