The landing on the Hudson was different because the sea was flat calm and almost glass like that day.

Also different because the Hudson is a river :pac:

Anyway, really hope this news isn't yet another false dawn.

...........I'm just a little bemused or bewildered maybe as to why this air base has not been discussed in mainstream media. Particularly given the assumed radar and detection capabilities this supposedly has. I find the Americans are very quiet on this whole situation.
It a US naval/air base that is built on UK islands. The UK even have a consul and police on the island. Officially the UK didn't even acknowledge its existence until about 10 years ago. Officially according to the UK it is a 'facility' rather than a base. It is the only piece or UK controlled territory that UK passport holders require permission from the Governor to step foot on.

Simon Winchester "Outposts: Journeys to the Surviving Relics o the British Empire" I read this a few years ago, its a great look at all the little remenants of the Empire that the UK still cling to.

How did they find this pulse seeing as where it was found is well away from the designated search areas?

It was a Chinese ship which was not listed as being involved in the search, from what I've heard. It was clear from the start I think, to all of us, that we were not being told everything. That said, that acting Transport Minister deserves an Oscar lol.

Would a ship not involved in the SAR have the specialist equipment necessary to detect FDR signals.? Weird.

Wouldn't it be incredible timing for the black box to be found, just as the battery is close to expiring. Hopefully it will be found and the families will get the answers they so desperately need

I think the various countries involved don't wish to disclose the arsenal (is that the correct word here?) they possess.

I was just thinking the same myself. Close to the wire alright, if it is a genuine signal from the FDR that is. And I truly hope it is.

You can't help but be a tad sceptical after the sightings of all the debris yielded nada.

I get the distinct feeling that information is out there, but there is a reluctance to admit it for some reason. Maybe I am wrong about that, but I dont know if that is good or bad!

Caution advised but I believe they are close.

Was the plane flying near enough to one of these bases to raise an alert?
Unknown aircraft, middle of the night, flying with no transponders, no comms, lights off.
What then is the likelihood of this plane having been shot out of the sky if its trajectory posed a potential threat.

The Chinese might have been running their own calculations which led them to a different location which they searched themselves.

At the risk of being crass, China has absolutely no financial reason to investigate this incident. If they did conduct a separate investigation, it will not be to let the involved families know.

Australia confirms ship detected sounds consistent as coming from a black box, but no MH370 link confirmed, says 'a number of white objects' also sighted about 90 kms from where ship detected signals.

Australia says it is considering deploying Australian Air Force assets to the area where the ship detected signals.

Oh god, I hope they've found the crash site. Would be a miracle.

I sincerely hope it's not another red herring in this very sad, and disturbing event.

This mystery is starting to get more and more bizarre as it goes on, i'm a very open minded person and not the biggest Conspiracy Theorist, but this story is bringing out the sceptical in me.

Lets say they do find the black box by some miracle, do you really think that the sneaky Malay guvt is going to really release any audio or precise data without being heavily restricted ? After all the black box is their property.

Past 1am in Perth now so we wont hear anything else until tomorrow. I really hope they have found it. Would seem almost unbelievable luck given the time taken for air France search.

What? Of course they will. Even Soviet Union/Russia eventually handed KAL007's over and they shot the bugger down!

I suggest that it's not down to luck.

read somewhere that even with this signal it will be a while before its recovered due to its location etc.

Would it be of any significance if indeed it was China, acting independently, who found the plane ? I think so, although I don't really understand why.
In my head it would confirm that Malaysia had indeed led everyone into a wild goose chase, for reasons only they know, and China, having none of it, did their own thing on the strength of their own information and evaluation of the situation.
I'm not very big into CTs usually either.
    All confused.

Hoping this is it, for the families' sake. And that there will be some level of transparency when (if) it comes to analysing the data.

I really don't believe there is any conspiracy here. Maybe inexperience, and ineptitude contributed but this has been far from a straight forward case. Anyway, online reports say Chinese aren't getting constant signal but heard 15minutes yesterday, and 90seconds today, but didn't manage to record it. Given Chinese record so far I wont hold my breath just yet.

And yes, even if they knew exactly where the plane went down, and I don't believe they do, finding the signal within one month would be an enormous stroke of luck.

I think it's significant only in terms of politics. I don't know the politics in that part of the world. I do know that China is not the sort of government who launches a massive search to find survivors. Half of their population earn $2 per day. There is a particular reason that this aircraft is being searched for by the biggest forces in the world.

I hope it is the black box, put an end to mad conspiracy theories.

There is some interesting points in this video about some of the VIP Freescale employees who were on board but I wouldn't believe a word of the photo/message and GPS co-ordinates sent after the disappearance. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Yep, maybe there isn't. Maybe it's just all a big mess, and by a stroke of luck the Chinese have found it.
Or maybe they haven't like you say.

Or there's a chance there's something more to it, that the Malay don't want publicised, and the Chinese are onto it, as suggested by Sopretty.

Don't believe the Diego Garcia bag over the head thing either.
    Although you never know...

I don't have an opinion, but I find I can't dismiss even the fancier theories this time, there are so many unknowns.

Hope the other black box "finder" is travelling to the spot right now, they were suggesting on the French tv that the next step should be to triangulate the signal if it's still there.

Yea sure, you are a funny guy. The Soviets didnt release the flight data recorder information and sat on the evidence for 8 years and it was only released after the collapse of the soviet union. They too led search teams on a wild goose chase just like these sneaky malay guvnt officials have been doing since day one. They are some shady ass people working for that guvt. Dont be surprised when info gets leaked out about some really important cargo being smuggled on that plane that the Malay guvt had their hands in.
