    Is there a new "last known position" or something?

    Eh, we don't KNOW. That said, they are searching the far side of a land-strip, to the West of the last KNOWN position.

    It's a bit like saying, I lost the needle here, in the top end of the field. Authorities ignore the 'last known position of the needle' and toddle off down to the bottom of the field, to a haycock there.

    It looks like a ship getting refueled by another one. Or maybe a fishing trawler transferring it's catch to a factory ship.

    Can you use TomNod to look at that location, or does it just send you to a random location??

    The second picture is interesting, I would have totally missed that as it's just a little white dot. That area was included by Tomnod in todays upload. Below is the area Tomnod has currently online;

    https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1959898_649075805158839_2065137887_n.png

    Dare I say it, I did come across an area in one of the maps that had a few rows of oil slicks similar to those in pic 4 and would have tagged it. Is there anyway to return to the maps you tagged?

    Edit: You can't choose co-ordinates afaik on the Tomnod site, so it'd be just luck to find the area.

    does anyone know how to look at other peoples tags on tomnad?..want to see if anyone else has agreed of seen this

    Similar? Map 14637

    kndmmtS.png

    And there were a lot of little white specks in the maps around there too, but assumed they were more than likely just waves. That section of maps were quite dark compared to others

    Map;20201
    0Ml90Rq

    And if you just work around that area, there's lots of oddly shaped items.

    An oil worker has said he saw the plane on fire:

    I plugged his coordinates into google maps and it seems a bit off route.

    Most likely a supply boat alongside an FPSO/FSO or a small shuttle tanker getting loaded by an FPSO/FSO.

    Hopefully what the Chinese picked up is plane debris.

    You can get the co-ordinates of the maps in Tomnod.

    In the URL, replace the word "challenge" with "api". It will return an error message with the latitude and longitude of where you're searching. Enter them into google maps, and there you go. The area in the pics I linked above is here;

    QIcia2V.jpg

    Close enough to the last known position, but further West than where the Chinese pictured their debris.

    How does he think that's something?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,501 ✭✭✭Jack1985

    Absolutely baffling at this stage, it's a real pity the Chinese aren't in charge of the Investigation, the Malaysians who are fully trying there best have began searching the Strait of Malacca with the only theory that they briefly identified an unidentifiable aircraft at 02:15L at FL295, it seems a wild action to then search that area when there are at least 2 confirmed possible debris points west of its last location, still think the fire theory is the primary looking cause at this stage.

    To show you the mega-scale of there search area, this picture tells you everything;
