Straightener recommendation for thick and coarse hair

    Hi!

I'm in the market for a new hair straightener. I have a lot of hair. And it is quite kinky. Also, it is dry. It is not an easy combination to find a straightener for :(

I've done some research and GHDs don't work as well on thick and coarse hair. And many says that they can be quite drying in long term, which my fellow coarse haired people would agree as a disaster waiting to happen. The new Eclipse is supposed to be a bit better (?).

Besides that, I heard good things about Cloud 9 irons and the L'Oreal Steampod. But I can't be sure. I'd be really happy hear from coarse haired girls and what they like and use.

    All recs are welcome!

Hey, I have thick, curly hair. Got the Loreal Steampod last Christmas, and it's brilliant. It's gentler on my hair than the GHD, and it's really easy to use. Use one slow pass through each section of hair, rather than going over each section a few times like you would with a GHD. My only complaint about it is that those little short hairs around my face don't straighten as nicely as with a GHD so I just run it over them at the end. Definitely worth buying.

I have this straightener and it is amazing. I have thick, frizzy hair.

I have tried my fair share of straighteners and my ultimate favorite are Nicky Clarke's. You can get a decent pair for cheap enough. GHD's can be over rated, I have one but only because it was purchased as a gift. Good straightener but not if you're on a budget.

I have dry, thick, curly hair which I wear straight and I couldn't live without my ghds! I have the big ones and have done for years and years and they are brill. In the salon wholesalers I go to they sell a few types (inc ghds) and one of the employees (who has similar hair to me) swears by a brand called "fhi"

She has the big fat ones (can't find the link and price doesn't include vat!).
I got my hair done in Canada a few years ago and the hairdresser used Morrocan oil hair straighteners. (The big fat ones) they were so amazing I tried to get them here when I came home but nowhere sold them.
My hair stayed perfect in the crazy crazy humidity!

I have thick, kinky hair and I swear by my Remington Pearl. So so much better on my hair than a ghd! Definitely give Remington a shot. I had a Nicky Clarke for a while but I didn't like it
