There's no way of telling. There will be a set amount of places set aside for HEAR students, could be from 5-15 percent. Lets say this amounts to 20 places in Science for HEAR students, this means the students with the top 20 points will be offered the places

These 20 students mightn't need reduced points, but they will still be offered the HEAR place as reduced points are just one of the benefits of the HEAR scheme.

This is why you won't find out if you've got HEAR until after you've done the Leaving Cert exams in June. There's no guarantee you'll get it, so do your best in your exams in June and you won't have to be relying on reduced points to get into the course you want

I did myself. I got the place even though i was 65 points off the course.

Just as an aside, the support other than points reductions is brilliant in Trinity. There are also financial and educational supports specifically for hear scheme students. You'll have access to these regardless of if you need a points boost or not. Just said I'd say that because many people are unaware of it!

    +1 for this.

If you qualify for HEAR and land a place in Trinity you're funneled into the TAP scheme which makes up 1,000+ students on campus. So there's a big buying power for additional supports and a full time staff of 8 or something I think. There seems to be a lot more on offer for students in the TAP scheme than there does for some of the people I know who qualified for HEAR in other universities.

Wow well done that's brilliant! You're in good hands with Trinity Access Programme anyway, don't forget to apply for bursarys etc. They fill you in on funding when you attend the HEAR orientation in College.

Which is actually pretty good, particularly if you live outside of Dublin and get to live on campus for a couple of days. Pay attention to what HEAR people are saying, those bursaries are a great help but they are strict with deadlines. You will need to collect receipts etc.
Also make friends there! Some of them will probably end up being your friends throughout college, something you cannot necessarily say about Fresher's week!

Met some of my best friends on the HEAR week. The TAP people have also proved to be probably the most useful resource I've had in college too. It's an invaluable resource and you should make the most of it if you can.
