Oldcourt Castle. Bray

The complete reknaw

Doing an assignment for college on Oldcourt Castle Bray. I know its a long shot but would anyone have pictures of the interior? Any info, not from the usual sources Jstor etc, would be appreciated.

No, but according to the entry for Oldcourt Castle in the book "Bray, Did You Know", the resident of the property which now includes the castle in it's grounds doesn't mind visitors if you ask them first, so you could take your own.

Thanks for getting back. Visited there few weeks ago. Unfortunately all entrances to the whole building either bricked up or too high up.. There is what looks like an entrance on the first floor, but it looks like a locked gate across it. Lots of Ivy on the building so hard to see clearly.

Ah, didn't know that. I don't think it's been in any kind of habitable state for quite a long time. Do you have the book I mentioned? If not I can scan in the relevant pages, or else they have a a Facebook page which may have the same info on it somewhere.

Also, there's a good map of the area from somewhere around the turn of the 19th/20th century on maps.osi.ie (select the Historic 25" map layer).

I am just on the Bray facebook page now lol. I have also accessed the OSI web site. Archaeology Ireland also has good older maps you can overlay onto the satellite imagery. The thought has occured to me to ask the owners for access but with elf and safety and the fear of litigation these days, couldn't image it being a runner.
