Derry Vs Cork City is actually being televised at 3.15 on Sunday afternoon.

Silly fixture arranging from the powers that be given it is one of the best Sky days of the year with Liverpool Vs Manyoo and Spurs V Arsenal both on TV Sunday as well.

Ill take a draw from this quite happily.

Have to bounce back from last weeks disaster up in Drogheda but it won't be easy against Limerick who were a bit of a bogey team for us last season. Tuesday nights comeback win against Coleraine will have lifted the spirits a bit and I'm hopeful we'll have enough to see Limerick off. Meenan needs to start, he was the only bright spot for us last week when he came on.

Us Derry folk are not happy at all with the timing of this fixture.

Your first home game of the season is always a great crowd, but 100 yards away one hour before Derry v Dublin GAA match is on, plus we will have many so called fans who will pick the 2 big EPL games over supporting their home club.

I want the 3pts by the way. Will be interesting to see how Roddy approaches this game compared to how he set the team up v Rovers.

Terrible decision on the televised game, surely they should have shown one on a Friday at 7pm, and pick teams with little to travel. That leaves Pats or Bohs games.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,925 ✭✭✭✭anncoates

Nothing but an away win will do in Lissywollen.

    1-1 it is then.

Missing a couple of players for Saturday, would take a draw now if it was on offer! B

Can't wait to be back in Dalymount :D Should be a good game if last weeks scoring exploits is anything to go by. It's the type of game we would have lost/scraped a point last year, need to show how much we've improved.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Heading to Dalymount on Friday night to watch a bit of footie. Looking forward to it now. Not a fan of either team, so I am hoping for goals, goals and more goals.

    .......... It'll probably end up 0-0 then.

Really wish we were home this weekend.

Think 1-1 draw be the result in Derry.

    Any update on Elding?

and best wishes to Danny Murphy. Sad to see him go.

Nah, you see the problem there is, is that your idea makes sense, but it's handier to get the Cork lads to knock out a five or six our journey on a Bank holiday weekend, RTE really don't give a shít about travelling fans, same as last week, the Derry lads came to Rovers, I was leaving the carpark just as they were getting into their busses at 7:20 or so, poor fúkers wouldn't be home till about 11 or later then up early next morning for work.
IMO clubs should have an option to opt out of televised games.

Yeah just read that, what's the story behind him leaving or does Caulfield just not fancy him ?

Not guaranteed even a spot on the bench, so both decided it was time to part ways is the official line anyway.

    1-1 in Athlone, maybe 0-0

They are showing an u-20 rugby match instead. Brutal choice imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Yeah, it's because RTE are showing the rugby on Friday evening. They could have at least put the kick off time back a couple of hours to a similar time as last weeks Shams-Derry match. At least then the Arsenal Spurs match would be nearly over by the time it kicks off.

Can't wait for the first home game in Dalymount. If last week's games are anything to go by then there should be goals galore. Would be happy with a draw but it'll be an interesting game nonetheless.

We've good options this season so who knows what the hell could happen.

    0-0 nailed on.

He has put in many superb performances in the showgrounds. One of the few opposition players, particularly defenders, that stood out so often. Lucky not to be sent off most times he was here though!

Will remember him for the night he was left on his arse over and over by Pascal Millien. We thought Pascal was going to be a superstar :o

Would still start for most Premier division teams from what I've seen to be honest.

Have to say I was in the minority who was happy with Danny Murphy at Rovers...but Enda Stevens was always going to take first spot...

^ Completely forgot he played with Shamrock Rovers.

He always played on the edge of violence. But tbh, I actually cannot remember him ever getting sent off. Thats not to say it didn't happen.

I think though he got most of his yellows for lip. He would make a poor/late challenge, ref would give him a ticking off, and he would react and get booked. Cannot say how many times we have been screaming at him from the stands "walk away Danny FFS, walk away"!

Remember him getting sent off for Rovers at Belfield.

Always liked him. Not the best footballing full back but hard as nails and always got stuck in.

Is he still at Villa?? He's completely gone off the radar.

On loan from Villa to somebody in the championship last I heard.

He was unlucky to join Villa when he did.

With only Peers missing tonight this is the closest we've been to having a full squad available since early in the 2012 season.

Expect about five players to pick up severe injuries in the warm up so..

  • Are they segregating the away fans for the Athlone game tonight? Rumour bouncing around town that's its mixed stands in town stadium.

Athlone, UCD and Limerick all lose and Bray take full points...this is brilliant! 2 games in, 4 points, 2 clean sheets, I will take that.

Just back from the Athlone game. we were dire with Rovers levels ahead. 4-1 flattered athlone, going to be a long tough season, not good football on the eye too it seems.
