    17euro for 24cans works out at 70.8333cent per can. This works out at 55.78p in punts.

    A lot of people seem to forget about the punt/euro exchange.

    You can find old tv & paper adverts online these days. It would be interesting to see what the best prices really were, not just the spoofers saying "in my day I got 20 gallons of stout for truppence".

    I see young lads looking at me in disbelief when I say the cheapest can of beer 25 years ago was usually 1.27euro (£1)

    In threads about roses/quality street I was able to show in the early 90s they were hugely more expensive per gram.

    Tesco have deals on Scotch:
    * Johnnie Walker Black Blend €35
    * Glenlivet Single Malt Founders Reserve €35
    * Chivas Regal 12yo Blend €32

    Any of them worth a punt over say, Williams Lawsons blend at €22, or indeed, Tesco Scots Club for €13.49 - maybe that least one is only drinkable with Club Orange!

    We must be about the same age, tough times don't last, tough people do.

    What a time to be alive, still counting the pennies without half the worries but a bit more well earned body weight.

    And a 3 year warranty on every power tool.

    And Google.

    What a time to be alive.

    Back in the day we didnt need warranties... tough people built tough tools to last through the tough times!

    Lidl have a Sauvignon Blanc reduced from €6.99 to €3.49. Saturday and Sunday only.
    Don't know how nice it is but probably ok out of the fridge for a Summer barbecue (if we ever get the weather!).
