I was wondering given how competitive recruitment is now and seeing as many applicants are usually in their early 20's how often would a person be successful at their first applicaton?

I'v heard, in the past a lot of people were rejected the first time but succeded their second or third time?..

And someone I know got in on their first try at the age of 20. I think each application is taken on it's own merit.
