Recommend me a food processor please

I'm looking to buy a food processor, it will be used for chopping, grating, blending, mixing.
Hoping to use it for cooking and baking, so the mixer part has to be good for cakes.

I'd like something that is easy to clean, will last & makes the (to me) tedious job of prepping for a meal that bit easier.

I'm thinking Kenwood for durability, but has anyone any other recommendations? And which Kenwood will be good for what I want it for? From the reviews I've read online, there doesn't seem to be one 'catch all' processor out there

Absolute maximum spend would be 300 euro - ideally half that would be more like it!

I think you are looking for the impossible and if you find it let me know. Sounds like you want a food processor and mixer all in one.
You're going to have to decide which is more important a food processor to do all your chopping or a mixer to do your cakes and bakes.
You certainly won't get quality that does both like the Kenwood and all the attachments for €300.

I got a Grundig stand alone mixer for just under €200 from Home Store and More and you could get a Kenwood Food Processor for around €100.

I am no expert in these matters but like yourself I wanted to get a decent food processor a few months ago and, having read the reviews, and having seen it in action on tv, I settled for the Jamie Oliver mixer. (Search Philips HR7782/01 Jamie Oliver Food Processor, 1000 Watt - you can buy it on Amazon and it's on sale at the moment)

I am very happy with it and it does everything I want it to do.

You might be able to get a kenwood chef second hand? Can't think of anything else that would do what you need.

Looking for a strong blender to get and the above seems to have come top of a few reviews. Its £150, so not cheap, but bang for buck it gets great reviews.

Anyone any other suggestions? It will have to crush ice, make soup, smoothies, etc etc.

I want something reliable & tough. Would love a blentec but a bit too expensive....

hmmm, ok......might have to go back to the drawing board. Perhaps two seperate machines would be better. A stand mixer and then a food processor.
Which is a shame really - is it just money that is my barrier, or are there actually machines out there that will do both? My head is fried looking at all the options!

Not a recommendation as such but I saw a Kenwood processor on offer, reduced from I think 80 to 50 euro in Tesco. I can't find it online but it was in the Oranmore store yesterday evening.

I've a Magimix 4200

It's got three bowls and comes with a few attachments to use with them:
- a little bowl with a chopping blade, for tasks like making hummus
- a medium bowl, that has a couple of grating and slicing disks
- a big bowl, with a big chopping blade, a dough hook, a whisk and a juicer.

I love mine, I use it several times a day and have done for 6 years now - haven't had to replace any bowls or attachments yet.

I'm not much of a baker, just the odd carrot cake or simple bread, and it works fine for those. But it only has one speed, so that might be something you need to look at, don't some baking tasks need slow and fast speeds?

I have a Kenwood Chef and think it is brilliant.

I just checked on www.xe.com and at today's rate £250 is €299 so you could get both for just under the €300 you said was your absolute maximum.

I'm looking for a good food processor myself at the moment. Thinking of the Magamix 3150 as I have seen it on offer for 180 euro in Arnotts but not sure how good it is really. I've just read that Magamix is a good brand.

Would anyone have any recommendations regarding a food processor that's good enough to make almond butter? That's one of the main things I'll be doing with it!

This might fit the bill. It's a food processor, blender and juicer that sit on top of a mixer, so would cover all angles. The bowls aren't huge, so it depends what you want to use it for.

The Prospero is very small though if memory serves but would be a bargain if you're not looking to make any large quantities.

I make almond butter in the smallest bowl of my Magimix 4200 - turns out great. This is the method I use:

Ingredients:
-165g raw almonds
-1/2 banana

Directions:

1. Put almonds in food processor. Process for 12 minutes. That’s literally it for the almond butter. The almonds will release their natural oils to make the almond butter creamy. You can stop here or proceed to next step!
2. After almond butter is processed, add in 1/2 a banana. Process until creamy. The banana adds only a hint of flavor, almost doubles the amount and adds in a natural sweetness.

Thanks. I'm wondering would the 3150 model do the same thing but maybe just be slower? Don't know what the difference is between all the Magamix models other than size/wattage. I think the blades are all similar but I could be wrong. I can just about stretch to affording the 3150 so hoping that will do that job!
