Over the next weeks, try to get out and run/walk as often as you can. Don't do the full distance if you're not used to it, but get out for half an hour a few days a week, and on the weekend go for a longer time, building up gradually week by week.
    Here's a 10k starting programme

If running those distances is too much, walk/run them instead.
Over the next couple of months you'll learn yourself what works for you for food and clothes. Some people like to leave a good break between eating and exercising, you'll see how it goes yourself. You'll probably find that you're wearing too many clothes at the start and as you get going you warm up.
Treat the next 10 weeks as a learning experience for the day of the mini marathon itself.
