Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was going wide - red card too

The fact that it was going wide - surely he hasn't denied a goal scoring opportunity

Seeing as the ref didn't see it initially, it's impossible to judge that.

Wrong player sent off! LAWL. Wouldn't get that in the LoI.

    Wrong team picked too.
Flamini and Arteta should have started.
Plus we were destroyed on Gibbs and Podolski's side by Spurs last week and he hasn't fixed the problem.

    Disaster.

Arsenal getting hammered by the good teams still.

Don't you mean "We should be ashamed of ourselves"? I don't think you're an Arsenal fan.

    Racist from the ref.

Not all black people look the same.

Behave yourself. A bad mistake doesn't equate to racism.

Comedic performance by the ref and Arsenal. This could end up a rout

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Complete farce - shouln't be a sending off anyway as the ball wasn't going in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Surely theyll over turn the red card too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

"Ref it was me" Pretty sure Ox said that.

He told Gibbs he handled it, wow. You try to defend officials and then one of them drops a clanger like that.

Should have got a good striker in during January, Giroud is good at pulling faces when he misses chances though

    Yep, he did.
And Marriner told Gibbs he handled it.

Is that not a red if it's a handball. Definition of denying a goalscoring opportunity.
FFS it was the ox not Gibbs.

    LOL bad by the refs.

It's clearly a red. Deliberate handball on the goal line. But obviously sending off the wrong player is crazy. Ha, Ox looked like he said "it was me".

Yeah, how is that going to work? Overturn Gibbs red and ban Oxlade-Chamberlain?

Comedic performance by the ref and Arsenal. This could end up a Trout

    its a bit fishy alright

It was going wide so how is it a red?

    He did.

But Arsenal really have a soft under belly and all Maureen is doing is exactly what Rodgers did- nullify midfield with the extra man, and get that ball down their throats asap.

Does Hazard get the assist as well on FF?

No, can't get points for both.

Yeah, how is that going to work? Overturn Gibbs red and ban Oxlade-Chamberlain?

No idea mate , thats the logical thing to do alright.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

Yeah, how is that going to work? Overturn Gibbs red and ban Oxlade-Chamberlain?

I don't think they can do that for decisions like this. I reckon they'll just overturn the Gibbs red card and that'll be that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Yeah, how is that going to work? Overturn Gibbs red and ban Oxlade-Chamberlain?

They'll both get away with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Might work out better this way for Arsenal, with the card. Gibbs' card will be rescinded. Probably won't take action against Ox?

Can't ban a player if the ref has acted on the decision. It'll be an overturn of the red card and that's it.

WRT rescinding the red, does this mean Arsenal will get no suspension now (or can the suspension be transferred to the correct player)?

The fact that the ball was going wide will mean that the red will be rescinded full stop

Arsenal never play a full 90 minutes. Arsenal and Chelsea hit them for a slow start perfectly. Same old rubbish and any decent manager has been able to exploit the weaknesses all season.

Samuel L Jackson and Laurence Fishburne comes to mind!

Wouldn't want to be the ref at half time when he watches the replay.

It was going maybe 6 inches wide before he touched it. You can't expect an official to call that unless they're in a direct line with the path of the ball. He knew when he did it that it was a red.

its not like it was going out for a throw, it was a deliberate attempt to prevent a goal. its a red all day long

Could they take the point of view that the ref hasn't acted on Oxlade-Chamberlain's offence though?

Ox can still influence the game, more then a LB could have anyway.
