yeah I can't help but feel that if 40% of the images they supply me with are going to be in black and white only without the option to see or have the colour version of the same photo, that should have been mentioned to me at some stage.
The whole colour/b+w thing was never mentioned so based on that I'd assume all photos I'm going to receive were going to be in colour

I mean a handful in b+w fair enough, especially if they weren't a great shot and looked way better in b+w, but 40% of them with no input from me as to which ones? Doesn't seem right.

Any update for us sticky? Have you been back to the photographers again?

    No. Sigh.....
I'm trying to decide what to do/say. I would totally take them to small claims court but if I do they will counter sue for the unpaid extra 1.5 hours they stayed at the wedding. According to the contract I signed they are allowed to charge 200 per hour, so that would be 300 euros for 1.5 hours and the money they're looking off me for the 29 colour photos is 290 so that cancels each other out. I might as well just bend over and accept that they are doing this to me. They've taken all the good out of my wedding photos/album.

    Pr!cks

well nothing focuses the mind like anger.....
1 silver lining. Out of a desire not to give those b@stards an extra cent more than I have to, I have managed to get the 144 photos down to 100 for the album Yaaaaayyy!!!

I had to do a RUTHLESS cull. Was really hard, especially the last 5 photos when I got down to 105!

Think I will get my own album done with a Groupon with all the shots that had to be taken out.

Wait until you get the album. You might not even feel their missing when you see it together.

How long did it take from ordering to delivery? Thinking of getting one.

I'm going to get one too. I just have to find time to actually put the book together - I can see why photographers charge a lot for albums...it's a lot of work!

I ordered on the 18th of Nov and received on Dec 8th but I chose the cheapest shipping option.

Also, Mischa, you are so right. I spent hours over a full week when I wasn't working (I do temp work atm) tho once you're in the swing of it, it's very satisfying. Going to make one for my sis-in-law of all the photos of my nephews she has emailed over the years over Christmas I think.

Similar time line to noisetoes. Add another week onto their estimated delivery time

Kildareash and noisetoes. How heavy is the paper in your mixbook albums?

The albums I got for our parents have photo type paper in them. The albums our photographer showed us have very rigid about a half cm thick card. I really like this as pages can't be accidentally creases.

I'd like to do my own colour version of the album but I'd like it to be similar quality as his one and I'm wondering if it's possible to get this from one of the regular photo book producers.

Now the ones I did for Our parents were groupon deals and were fab for the price but I wasn't expecting archival quality but I'd like that for our main colour one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 536 ✭✭✭nosietoes

@ahayes the pages are regular pages that you would get in any coffee table/art catalogue type book. Heavier than reading book but not stiff like you've described.

Thank you! I had an absolute ball...I enjoyed every second of it and I think our guests enjoyed it too. Relaxing now for a few days and then will start getting ready for Christmas and the honeymoon. I really loved the day, won't miss the planning though!

It was lovely :) Our anniversary (not wedding!) is over the holidays too so it was really nice to celebrate that too for the first time as a married couple and for the last time before our little one arrives.

I know it's so sad! It'll never again be the ''year we got married''
It was lovely buying the Christmas cards ''to my husband'' and receiving one ''to my wife'' card :):):)

Anyone else spend their wedding registry or wedding present vouchers in the sales? It was very pressured trying to make the right choices!

No, I loved it, but I wouldn't do it all again. It was almost perfect the first time :) Now I'm just enjoying being married and living our life together. I keep catching myself saying "girlfriend" or "boyfriend" by mistake though :P Still getting used to the husband and wife terminology!

Oh I'd definitely do it all over again! It feels weird thinking we got married last year. But we had to have a delayed honeymoon, so we're going on that in less than 4 weeks, hurrah! It helped extend the wedding buzz a bit, and also helps us get through the dreaded January.

Although finding decent bikinis at this time of the year is a nightmare. I miss Penneys! The only options here are super ugly or super expensive.

God yeah. I'd say you'll have to go online to get a decent reasonably priced bikini in January. Honeymoon in 4 weeks, jealous.com !!!

I'm stuttering over my name also... people must think I'm mad. I keep on correcting myself x, no y. If it's a booking or a reservation then I can't remember what name I booked it under.

I'd have the party again (and the hens) in a heartbeat, but I'd be better organised this time!
But it was great catching up with friends over the Christmas and to hear how much they enjoyed the day or the stories from their table.

I stand corrected, actually - I found some gorgeous pieces for the same price as a couple of sh1tty H&M bikinis!

If I get away without customs & duties, I'll be flying :)

When I was down home over Christmas I was a little sad that I didn't have the wedding in front of me but then again, it's nice not to have to keep thinking of things that need planning!! I miss that we won't have a chance to have a party of that size ever again :)

Have fun on your honeymoon Faith, not a bad idea to do it a good bit after the wedding itself.

Just have to write the Thank You cards now, a good 7 months after the wedding :O

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a lovely xmas and NYE. We were on honeymoon. Still can't believe it's all over and we're married. It was the perfect day - better than I could have imagined. The honeymoon was fab too. Looking forward to the photos and organising the thank you cards. New project: home improvements! :D Thanks for all the support in 2015. x

Oh we must get our thank you cards out by the end of the month.Want to get them done as the next few months are going to be mad id say. Must move out of the place we are in, back to the parents! So want to have them done before manic hits again...

Im hoping to put in a picture of us or either the guests at the wedding which I must get started on..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭stickybookmark

Congrats CBFi, you must have been the last of the 2015 brides then! Thank you cards are on my plan for Jan/Feb as well...I don't get my final high res pics from the photographers til I get the album off them and I need the high res photos to make the thank you cards!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,652 ✭✭✭✭fits

We posted ours before Christmas. Didnt bother with photo cards as we ordered thank you cards at same time as invites.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Milly33

Yeah kinda thinking we may just include one pic of people as it is taking a lot of time...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭kildareash

Thank you cards are on our agenda for this month too. We thought we'd have them out as Xmas cards but I just didn't get round to ordering them.

We were going to go with a collage of pics. But I got a print done for himself for xmas and it combines a few different elements of the day into one so we're thinking of jus going with that. But I change my mind on a regular basis!

It took me ages to decide on a photo to put on the front, then just before Christmas I was so annoyed that I hadn't ordered them yet (we got married in April) that I just ordered it with one that is nice and then it was done. Just trying to print off photos of people to put in them now and then we'll write them in the next couple of weeks.

We were thinking the same thing but between all that was happening it was just too busy. Plus we were kinda thinking in the New year it might be nice to send them out... Just ordered the prints on snapfish not bad 120 prints for €15

I think people though I was a bit mad, but we got our thank you cards out straight after our wedding in October, like maybe 2 weeks after! We were just so overwhelmed with the gifts we received, we wanted to thank everyone. We had 2 hd pictures from the photographer so used one of those, and ordered them on photobox.

We received all of HD photo from our photographer on the 23rd Dec, so sat down over Xmas to look at them, really happy with them. There are a few that I thought should be in there, so might ask about those, but really do love them, they really tell the story of the day. As we took RSVP's to our wedding via email we had most peoples email addresses, so sat down over Xmas and emailed them on. Our photographer was great and got pictures of every single guest, so forwarded on the pics to everyone. Also did some printing for friends and family.

Next step is make up some collage canvas prints for our home! There is 50% off on photobox at the moment if you spend over 65e so will be making use of that! Also we just had a mini break after our wedding, so honeymoon planning is soon to begin! Sad to think its all over, but 2015 was a super super year!

We won a competition to get a certain service for free for our wedding. I don't want to go into specifics of the service because they did a good job, but they're a total pain in the ass to deal with. There's some really poor business practices at play, but I can't complain because they were free! So I have to keep sending emails being like "Oh heeeyyy, remember that thing that was supposed to be sorted on your end 2 months ago? Yeah, it's still not sorted...". I imagine the reason the business ran the competition was to get word out and hope we'd promote them to our friends, but I couldn't possibly recommend them to another couple with the unprofessional way they have done a few things. It's a shame, because the service itself was good.

That's terrible...you think when it's competition winners they would go above and beyond. You could say acknowledge that you're not paying, but say you expected better. More on the side of constructive criticism.

Similar experience our end. Within our wedding package the hotel included a couple of services, supplied by external suppliers. The package was great, when you added up the cost of the additional services on their own we def saved money and were happy with the deal. We paid for the package, hotel paid their suppliers.

However we found that one provider in particular, although I genuinely can't fault their work on the day itself, was hard to deal with a bit before, and certainly afterwards. I know that the hotel pay this supplier less than they charge their own customers, but given the amount of business they get from the hotel, had an agreement with the hotel. However they were very slow to deal with afterwards, felt like we had to hound them, and generally got the impression that we were far less important that their other private customers. This was not something that I considered when we booked, but thinking about it now, they were likely paid straight away, or on whatever agreement they have, so we didnt actually owe them money, so we didnt have much haggling power when it came to pushing them for the after service. Again I can't fault the service itself, it is just dealing with them afterwards. If anyone was asking me for advice on this it is certainly something that I would tell people to consider.

When you hire someone directly yourself, the agreement is with them, and you have some power over it, especially if you have not fully paid for everything. We felt that if we did have a problem, was it the hotel we should go back to? Now it didnt come to that, and all worked out ok, but something to consider. Although I would recommend the service, the overall experience as a whole….Im not sure tbh.

So so bad and such a shame, glad they worked out though on the day but the stress leading up to it no one needs if they are being scatty

Mm trying to guess what these certain things are now :) Photos booths?

Must say recommendations are the best way to go for services I find.. We took a chance with the lady we got to do the table covers (although in her head she was a wedding planner and kept telling people this) and I thought sure how much can she mess up.. And by god I was fit to kill her I mean how can a woman not know how to iron or put a tablecloth on complete chancer...

It's not that they've done anything wrong, it's just sooo slow. We would have expected to finish dealing with them within 3 months of the wedding, but it's still dragging on. And the emails I get aren't written professionally; it's more like they're emailing a buddy. Kind of: "Alright Faith girl, sorry about that. I'm out with the lads at the moment but I'll look into it when I get home" and then I hear nothing until I email again saying "...Did you have a chance to look at that?".

Some people might be totally fine with that approach, but it grates on me when it's a professional discussion.

If it's any consolation i haven't heard of any photographer or videographer where you don't pay all the amount upfront or on the day latest. Before my wedding day arrived I had handed over all the cash (3300 in total between the lot) to the photographer and videographer and apparently they all work that way. So you have no comeback even if you had gone privately, it's done on trust.

Finally got my high res images! Going to do the thank you cards in the next week.
Any recommendations for companies that do high quality thank you cards?

  • Registered Users Posts: 267 ✭✭CorkClaire82

I went with Vistaprint and I really liked them, Photobox are good too but I found them a bit expensive.

I have the majority of my Thank You cards gone but still a few need to be sent out, I've left himself look after his side and not one has been done (bar the 2-3 I did of mutual friends that I just handed to people). They are a pain but we put photos in the cards and I think people appreciated that and it made up for the complete lateness of doing them, our anniversary is next month like :P
