Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do you need a full license or could I get away with it on my provisional?

Full license required. You could get away with it only if you're not caught.

Aye, like Rosie said - full licence only. You could risk it, but you'll be nailed to the wall if you're caught.

Quite true, although I HAVE risked that a couple of times (when I was on my provisional), I wouldn't do it in the UK..

At the risk of appearing pedantic, or making a political statement, Northern Ireland is in the UK

You cannot drive anywhere outside the Republic of Ireland on a learner permit. PSNI treat motoring law seriously (unlike our lot) so you risk arrest and seizure of your vehicle, followed by a court appearance and probably a four figure fine.

    Scrap the cap!

    True story...

Coming off a ferry from Stranraer into Larne, PSNI pulls us over to one side asks us where we're from & where we're heading to?

Details were forthcoming, tax/insurance checked etc., happy days...

As we were about to pull off, the nice PSNI dudes partner puts his hand out to stop me (I was leading the pack) & points to the tricolour patch on my cut & asks me 'what's that?'

'You me to tell me' says I, 'that you live in the 6 north east counties of Ireland & ye don't know what a tricolour is?'

'Aye, I know rightly what it is & my advice to you is to fook off back to where ye came from ASAP!'

'Gladly' says I, 'as soon as you do fookn like-wise!' :D

Some things will never change unfortunately

Tbh I only ever got grief in the UK from. ...Scottish cops. One even reminding me that he needed no excuse to lock me up without charge for 24 hours. ..... All because he didn't like being corrected on BS AU 193.... About silencers...

    OP - I wouldn't do it.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

It was a bog standard Honda CB350F and he was accusing me of having unstamped silencers.

OEM Factory silencers aren't stamped and don't need to be - as OEM they are type approved with the bike. BS AU193 is for replacement systems. .... He actually lay down on the ground and read H-O-N-D-A stamped on the bottom. .....

Dont! Not sure about NI but in the mainland UK your bike will be seized and crushed and there will be nothing you can do about it. They have zero tolerance now as far as I am aware.

You will be locked up till your first court appearance and you will be up in court for having no licence and insurance. (Insurance is void as you don't have a licence in their eyes).
