Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Harsh on Aguero. He's scored a good few more than Rooney.

Ivanovic hasn't started one game at LB .

You really, really LOVE doing these random XI's..

Kompany ahead of Mertesacker and Negrado ahead of Rooney at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

    Rooney ? Seriously ?

    Wouldn't have Cech in it.

    Azpilicueta over Ivanovic.

A team of the year without Aguero is a joke. If he wasn't injured so much he'd wouldn't be too far off Suarez...It's far too early to post a TOTS...but Rooney there is a complete joke.

I don't know about Kolo!! I think he's past his peak

And if Ronaldo was still playing in the PL he probably wouldn't be too far off Suarez, so I'd probably stick him in too.

    I think its too early.

10 games left. Loads to play for, trophies to be won. Anything can happen.

Neither Rooney nor Mertesacker should be in that 11.

    Aguero and Kompany should be.

Negredo has 9 goals in 24 games, hardly brilliant is it? Aguero's been far better.

What relevance has Ronaldo in this thread? Aguero has more than proved himself in the games he's played in...he has 4 more goals than Rooney and did it in less 10 fewer games.

Aguero, while a fantastic player and a clinical finisher, has had a stop/start season on account of injuries compared to say Sturridge (I appreciate he's been out injured too). Based on what we've seen so far this season, Sturridge would be in ahead of him. Not saying Sturridge is a better striker per se, just that he's shone brighter thus far this season.

Sturridge is already in the team. Him and Suarez are a given.

Somebody needs to lock this thread and make a new one merely for how poor this opening post team is as a choice. I count at least 3 players there who have absolutely no place in the discussion for their particular position.

Ivanovic has been decent at RB but he hasn't been as good as Coleman. Rooney and Gerrard should be nowhere near that team.

It's actually not considering Rooney and Gerrard both have more goals and assists playing from deeper than him.

Ivanovic is silly but only because he's out of position.

Gerrard has gotten 10 penalties to take, that can't be taken too significantly into account for things like this unless you want this to be a pure stats thing.

Rooney ahead of Aguero even in an injury ravaged season is pure lunacy.

Why are these lists done so early ? Also why are the awards given out before the season ends. So much can change in the last few games

It wouldn't be the SF without a randomly timed yearly award/Best XI/World XI of the season thread. They should go up at the halfway point and end of the season you'd think, but alas, here we are.

I'd switch 4-3-2-1, and go with Reus, Cleverely and Moses at CM, but other than that, I agree with your team.

I think if you included all competitions then there hasn't been much between Negredo and Rooney this season. Aguero streets ahead of both of them.

Anyone who puts Gerrard in ahead of Fellaini needs to take a step back and consider how horribly wrong they are.

Kompany hasnt been at his usual standards this season and missed a lot of time. tbh i was going to put sturridge in instead of Lalanna but didnt want Pool fans giving out for putting him out the wing.

I don't think Negredo is a credible suggestion for this in any case. Same with Rooney. Negredo even less so if the thread is only in relation to the 38 Premiership games.

    Sturridge Suarez

Aguero would be in over sturridge but for injuries since xmas.

I think Ramsey deserves a mention. He was the best player in the league bar Suarez until he got injured.

Defo the most improved this Season but best bar Suarez no chance. Yaya, Aguero, Hazard at least 3 better than him this season.

Caveat "until he got injured". ;)

He was the rivalling Suarez for best player of the season up to Xmas. The 3 you've mentioned we're slow enough out of the blocks, although they're on fire now.
