Claiming for illness/ problems after lease ends

    If a lease has already expired, is there any way to claim back expenses from the LL you incurred throughout the year? For example, if the LL didn't repair a severe mould issue in the house and you spent some of that time out of work due to ill health because of that, is it too late to claim for that compensation after you have moved into a new home? Or is that like asking for money back on a dinner in a restaurant you've already eaten!?!

    I just finished what is easily the worst renting experience of my life. I rented for a short time a house with leaks, mould, electrical faults, doors that fell off their hinges, central heating system which worked only in the last month I was there. The final straw was a carbon monoxide detector alarm that I bought which went off the evening I took it home because of a fireplace I've been complaining to the LL about since we moved in (so much smoke coming out it burns the eyes). The high carbon monoxide reading might also explain my migraines and their sudden disappearance when the occupancy ended. These are all issues I presented politely to the LL in several emails and which took months of work (but only a few hours each visit) by his handyman (not a specialist in any field)

    I just don't know if there's anything I can do at this stage now or if I should be just grateful I'm out of there and move on with my life.
