Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was a foul...outside the box...nobody is denying that. Ronaldo stumbled after getting fouled but then dived to make the foul look a lot worse

I already said it was outside the box. You try staying on your feet running at speed and your feet tapped. Very hard

There's a poster of Messi above my bed, I kiss it every night before I sleep.

Brilliant ball to set Neymar through.

    Great finish messi.

You're not even trying now. Come on man. I want to see how many people you can get banned/carded.

Neymar is some diver & he was offside

Now I'm not saying he's a diving cheating prick scumbag. But...**** it. Neymar is a diving cheating prickbag.

Surprise surprise the ref evens up the soft penalty count. Big chance for Barca now

    My predictions:

Ramos or Pepe to get sent off.
    A controversial penalty.
Both Messi and Ronaldo to score.

    Bale to score.
    Real Madrid win.

    3 down. 2 to go.

As a barca fan. Id love to have Ramos play in our defence now that Puyol is off... Hes a headbanger but good player

    Fantastic penalty by Messi.

    What a game this is.

How about that through ball from Messi though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,037 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

He didn't complain too much if it was a dive. I think he clipped him.

I dont think anyone here can dribble at the same speed as ronaldo when hes at full pelt :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,503 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Neither was a dive. Ronaldo's foot was clipped and ramos ran into Neymar's left leg.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,837 ✭✭✭intellectual dosser

I thought there was contact and I thought the ref made right calls. I do however question if Neymar was slightly offside.

Tough for Madrid given that Pepe will no doubt test the referees resolve before the end of the game.

2 dives and that red probably means we'll see a lot more.

Ref has had too much involvement in the outcome so far

You can judge a lot by the defenders reaction. He didn't even complain.

Why are people saying these are dives?

Looked to me like he stuck his leg out to force contact.

It was almost as if he wasn't even paying attention to where the ball was.

He was only thinking about ensuring the contact

Such a shame the ref had to kill the game with that red card.

Why? What do you expect him to do???
The ref gives what he sees.

I'd need to see it once more. I don't get why players would do that when they have a clear scoring chance in front of them. Not part of the scorers instinct.

The first one was soft but you could argue a foul. It was clearly outside the box though.

The second was an engineered penalty. Neymar had no intention of staying on his feet whatever happened.

From the ref's viewing angle, I can see why he gave both though.

    Quick question:

Are the balls in the premier league/La liga lighter than 'normal' balls? They can kick them so far, i dont know how they can do that unless the balls are lighter.

    I dont think so.
Professional footballers make it look lighter. Like Ronneys goal yesterday, I could never kick a ball that far and keep it on target

He was touched. Granted. And its a foul but he took a step into the box then dived forward. Its mostly because the game is refereed abysmally but players dive to "prove" they've been fouled instead of stumbling naturally. And it makes them look pathetic.

I think, *I think* professional footballers have more muscle in their legs than you and your mates.

I really dont get this. Posters saying the same after the city game. They are a joy to watch especially on a night like tonight when the opposition go toe to toe with them instead of lining up on the edge of their box.

Maybe youre right. But Gazza Neville debated this last season and many agreed with him... And basically he said in ronaldo's situation, if he didnt go down the ref wouldnt give a free kick, or peno in this instance.

Hopefully. There will only a point between the top 3 then. Makes for a great finish.
