Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How can people enjoy this kind of football? The diving is embarrassing

It has really tainted what started as a great match

This has been a fascinating game but the bad **** we see in every Clasico has crept in bit by bit as it's gone on. Ref has made a serious balls of this in all honesty too.

Ref is truly having a shocker.

Am sure he was talking to Marcelo earlier about moving to Madrid, then he could be the greatest ever.

That was Pepe? I'd imagine the dialogue was pure venom.

    Hilarious dive there.

You have Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard on your team. I wouldn't be saying anything about other teams diving

    Game of the season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,881 ✭✭✭TimeToShine

Great from an entertainment point of view but a farce of a football game really, considering the talent that's on display.

Players falling over as soon as anyone comes near them.

Sometimes, after watching professional footballers rolling around holding their face when they've got a tap on the ankles, I like to download matches from the 90s when, were a player to dive, the commentators would outright say so instead of the current line of "Oh I think he might have gotten a touch there alright" It eases the mind.

This has been a brilliant match. And it means the title is a 3 way probably til the final day.

Don't think Barca deserve the win though. That being said Bale and Ronaldo didn't really perform tonight. Neymar and Messi were the better players tonight.

Your really showing your age there if you think even half of those are actual fouls in the game lately.

But I suppose times have changed.

Completely disagree with you. I only think he made a mistake on the madrid peno, should have been a free. But we only know because we all saw it on the replay... The ref did decent. And most of the decisions he got right.

    Mission accomplished

He's the lad that gave Madrid a winning penalty against El Che isn't he? The week before having denied a winner for Sevilla in the Nou Camp...

It's the Classico reaction when Barca are winning a game.

The diving, cheating, ladylike fighting, horrible decisions by the referee. The first half was excellent, 2nd half was pathetic.

Some game. Pity it took a lot of penalties and theatrics to decide it. The football in between was top class.

Should be 6 added not three. 3 penalties, red card, 3 subs each side. Refereeing this game has been an embarrassment.

He lost it after the first Barca penalty. Giving free kicks left and right, incredibly weak penalties, and far too many soft yellows.

Real lost the head after Barca went 4-3 up. Barca players made the most of the challenges that came in winning frees, but mostly they were fouls by Real players that seemed to throw in the towel.

I agree with that. I thought he got all the big decisions, apart from giving Ronaldo a penalty when it should have been a free, correct. And to be fair that was an extremely close call.

Very tough job refereeing that sort of game but he did well all things considered.

Alonso committed what seemed like a lot if fouls, but only got a yellow for arguing with the ref I think.

Madrid didn't look very dangerous after Benzema was taken off.
If Ramos had just let Neymar through that time, they might have gotten something from the game.

You wouldn't have picked Bale out as the worlds must expensive player in that game

But if you are not lazy and realise that the penos were all correct, except madrid's. They were fouls in the box, therefore penos.

Soft yellows???? Have you ever read the laws of the game???

Excellent game, the title could come down to the final match day when barca play atleti given madrids poor h2h

Fair play to Ancelotti for playing an attacking style against Barca instead of Mourinho's negative style. Fantastic game overall, I'm still shaking.
