Since Ireland went out of the men's competition, any patriotic Irish among you may want to cheer on the women's team. Not fancied to win it but have good chance of beating Pakistan and maybe giving South Africa a game.

Ireland get under way on Tuesday against New Zealand, who have already beaten the Aussies.

England are in group B and should get out of it, into knock out stages. They are going full time pro too which is good for the women's game (I expect) I will be hoping they fly the flag for England when the men exit their tournament (not sure how long that will take)

Doubt it will be televised anywhere much, if at all. Shame because the couple of games I've watched of women's cricket have been entertaining enough.

Bad start for England women, beaten by the Windies. Considered a surprise but reckon the Windies might be dark horses to win the tournament.

Thanks for starting thread, it's a great opportunity for women's cricket in Ireland.

Trent Johnston is coaching them, hope they perform well, and hope their games get a bit of coverage on the news, to be fair to RTE, its on their website anyway.

Kiwis beat the Aussies already this tournament so they are going to get to at least the semis I reckon.

The team played well by all accounts. Tough next game vs Australia.

Heavy defeat for Ireland today, world record t20 innings for Lanning of 126 in score of 191 for Australia. Ireland finished 70 odd shy. That's the 2 hardest games in their group out of the way now though. Onward and upward.

Ireland battered again, this time against South Africa, all out for 79 chasing 165.

The big one for them now is the Pakistan game. A win there would give them a much better feeling coming home. Relatively young team, in their first try at world competition, hopefully this is just the start.

    :(
Disappointing end for Ireland, fell 14 runs short. Gained good experience mixing it with some of the big guns of Women's cricket, in alien conditions, which will be useful for the team in the future.

They have one more game, against Bangladesh (all but definitely) to try and avoid the wooden spoon in 9th/10th place play-off.

Good start for us, Louise McC just taking the first wicket caught behind to have them 24/1 off 5.4 ... and 15 of those came from Amy K's first two overs, Isobel (0 for 5 from 2) and Louise (1 for 4 off 1.4) both keeping it tight.

And another failed chase of a fairly low total :( Kept them to 106/7, 3 for Lucy O'R and two each for Louise and Isobel and the 3 of them on the cheap side.

Shillers Run Out 2nd ball and Cecilia @ #5 first into double figures (but @ 59.37 SR). Melissa (16 off 16) and Laura (14 off 10) both put up a bit of a fight but 71/9 off 17.2 was just too slow and too many wickets down so the last wicket flourish (18 off 13) was too little too late and bowled out (last wicket another run out) 17 short with 3 balls to go.

Disappointing tournament for them going winless. Didn't even win a toss and stuck in every time. Never really looked like they would chase down a target in any of the games :(

Very disappointing today, I thought at the innings break they would have had a good chance.

England to play Australia in the final, hoping for an England win, but Aussies will probably be favourites for it on t20 form.

England good few runs short, Aussies should win fairly handily now.

Edit:Aussies completely outplayed England and thoroughly deserved win.
