Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aspas off the bench for the winner I feel.

12 mins in and no goal. Not even from Skrtel.

    Rodgers out.

Why is John Flanagan playing so tight to our centre backs?

It's allowing so much space on the right hand side.

This is one of those games where we have 1000 shots and don't score.

Try something a bit more nuanced maybe. That didn't work.

    Bad call...

This is the type of game where I wish we had Enrique fit and in form. Really would help unlock this back 5.

Is it me or is the atmosphere around Anfield a little weird?

WE HAVEN'T SCORED YET. WE'RE NOT GOING TO PICK UP 3 POINTS!

Sunderland are set up very well. Tough going so far in the final third

Crowd and game haven't got going. A goal will change all that.

    Needs an injection of pace.

At least Sterling is on the bench.

Very flat alright. Joe Allen giving away ball cheaply doesn't help.

Have to give kudos to Poyet, he's got Sunderland set up pretty well here. His back three effectively allows the three central defenders to man mark our three attackers. By swamping the midfield as well, he's preventing anything coming through the middle.

The key in this game will be to deploy our full backs high up the pitch - that's the best way to create space and double up on defenders.

Sunderland have done well imo. Silenced the crowd and not letting us time or space on the ball.

Johnson giving the ball away a few times as well.

We need to draw them out and get a goal on the counter. They seem well able to handle build ups.

Sunderland set up well but just requires patience, cant steamroll every team

Could have given a free for either the tackle on Coutinho or the one on Suarez, tbh.

Sh!t atmosphere do far. Someone should put in a big tackle to get a bit of a melee going to liven up the crowd.

  • Registered Users Posts: 526 ✭✭✭ManOnFire

having two up top is clever as well as one of the fullbacks must cover

Flanno has done well so far defensively.

Not a fast start from Liverpool and not much if the good pressing I've seen

Crowd gone fairly quiet, you'd think it's only inevitable that they'll score though and then Sunderland's game plan will be rather pointless.

Fair play to Sunderland so far though but not sure it will last

Hardest struck shot of Joe Allen's career.

That's what we need, someone to bust through from midfield as Sunderland are well stocked up against our defenders

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭hadepsx

wierd atmosphire alright, did all the noisy crowd outside before game not get in or something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Patience required. Sunderland have 8 or 9 players in and around their own penalty area every time Liverpool go forward.

    Right im back!

How come we're not 0-2 down.

    I've got this one lads..........

I can see Sunderland holding on here. Looking really solid and can even see them nicking a winner.

The floodgates will open once the first goal goes in....

It's all Liverpool but Sunderland are set up excellently. No room in the final third. Suarez playing around the halfway line to get on the ball and Sturridge is isolated. Gonna be tough to unlock this back 5.

Johnson? I counted 3 but probably is another in there alright. He's certainly our weak link tonight so far.

Eventually Sunderland will make a mistake.

Liverpool just need to keep at it.

    Plenty of space in midfield.

Johnson must be playing with an injury again. Much rather sterling to The Count.
