This is a nasty incident but it's not as if innocent motorists are getting attacked every day in Cork.For a city of Corks size we don't make the headlines for the wrong reasons that often.Shandon Street is a dodgy enough area in the late evening but the victim was foolish to confront the youths.Cork has gotten a lot rougher lately alright but you could say the same about other places.Of course that doesn't cancel out the seriousness of this incident.The guards hands are tied.They haven't got the resources and the legal system is balanced in favour of the thugs.
