Whatever DB you think you can manage, divide it by 2, then pick the next size down :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,591 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

Think the last time I did them was with 5kg DBs for sets of 8 with a 5s lowering at the end and shoulders were in burning ribbons by the end.

srs doms after them lunges yesterday

    SL RDL
    20 x8
    Toe Squat
    20 x5
    30 x5
    40 x3

    Tempo / slow squats
    50 5x2
The first two sets were 3/3 tempo; the rest were 'slower than usual'. Video is set 3. Had grand notions of going a bit heavier but the hip issue kicked in at 50 so 50 it was. Kept my upper back super tight. The point of these was back tight + hips under

    HB squats
    50 3x5

    Bench
    20 x8
    30 x5
    35 3x10
i wrote down/planned 4 sets but aint nobody got time fo dat

    RDL
    20 x8
    Sumo
    70 5x3
They have fancy new racks at the gym now as part of the renovation, including ones with little deadlift platforms on the front of them. They're great except the middle bit between the 'barbell goes here' bits is shiny wood... i'll have to bring my converse for deadlifting in future

    MSR
    28 3x10

    Treadmill
walk 30 min incline 3 speed 5.5 + 2.5 min jog to go with a song i was listening to

I'm not great at this cut lark, only -600 today... and i'm hungry

    Tempo squats....hahahahahahaha.

Filed under Funny 'cause it's not me

Unpleasantness. That said, fewer reps makes it more bearable.

    those were amrap reps
    or close enough
    hahaha

That looks more complex than a Taylor Swift dance routine  Can see myself morphing it into YMCA after a couple of reps :D

Only problem with that is needing to be able to lift your arms to do that.

    Reverse lunges
    20 x10

    bench, paused
    20 x8
    30 x5
    35 4x8

    sumo
    70 3x5

skulls - flyes - ohp superset
    6 3x10

    easier than last time

    de franco press
    lol jk

    xtrainer
    15 mins

had to use my other gym today, i dont like it as much but it did the job

more stretching might be the answer

I didn't feel like lifting this weekend so i didnt
that or the commute was worse, whichever

    paused bench, count of 3
    20 x8
    30 x5
    35 x3
    37.5 x 5, 7, 6, 5

    bench
    37.5 3x5

    rdl
    20 x8
    sumo
    80 3x5

hadn't brought chalk ... well it was in my bag ... anyway that was the most i could do grip wise which i am okay with

    skulls - ohp superset
    7kg 2x8 + 2x6
didn't add flyes because the paused bench killed that area already
my left arm gave up early on the last 2 sets
    stupid left arm
maybe i'll reverse grip my deadlift to get it working again

    msr
    28 2x12

easy enough thankfully. wanted lat pd but they were busy

38 mins ... took shorter breaks so it worked out
was thinking about squats then decided squats can bite me

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

    24 11
Super speed session because i didn't want to go then i spent like 20 mins practising double french braids in my hair so i got there at 930 and had to leave by 1030

    Toe sq
    20 x8
    30 x5

    Sq
    40 x8
    OW MY HIPS
    50 3x5

I need to pay someone to beat me up again. Or foamroll. Or both

    Bench
    20 x8
    30 x5
    35 x3
    40 5x4

    Yay cleans
    Pull pull clean
    I lost track of pulls
    20 x2
    25 5x3
    From the floor
    30 5x2

The video i threw up was set 3 or 4 of the 30s and i was fairly tired. I think it still looks decent though. Thoughts welcome

    Skulls & flyes
    6kg 2x12

6 was a bit light to be honest, thought I'd be more tired by that stage.

    45 mins total

I think the cpap is really working. Enjoying a caffeine tablet free and energy drink free and bus nap free life. And it's been like 2 weeks

What exactly is the cpap...dare I ask?

It's a mask that looks like an oxygen mask (you can get nose only ones) that puffs air at my nose and mouth, starting with lower pressure and increasing it gradually to the prescribed amount. They figured out how much pressure i needed when i did an overnight at the hospital with an auto detect one.
Anyway it somehow makes me not stop breathing somehow by forcing the constant airflow

Do you get to do cool sh*t with the mask like "Luke....I am your fawthaaar"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

Haha omg yes though I've been calling it my bane mask!!
AH YOU THINK OXYGEN IS YOUR ALLY

Haha. Sounds like a huge difference has been made though.

Pretty sure you can handle anything with a decent sleep under your belt. Otherwise everything is sh*t. Literally.

Is it something similar to sleep apnea(probably spelt wrong)

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

Yeah it's the treatment for apnea, i have a milder version of it

So you’ve to stay away from caffeine too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

Nope but i was relying on it a lot to function in the evenings and now I've found i dont seem to need it anymore so far. Still have my 1030am coffee but that's it. I used to have a stack of sugar free energy drinks on my desk at work then take a caffeine tablet on gym nights

    Glad it’s all sorted anyway

    Rip my hips
I promise i will do couch stretches and fire hydrants n ****

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

Today i nearly didn't go to the gym again because it's so cold and i was tired.
the cpap is still working on my weekend fatigue i guess!

    rdl
    20 x8
    Sumo
I did a quick check but couldn't find the last time i tested sumo. I remember it being really easy up to 90% and then impossible to get off the ground. so i wanted to see what that felt like. I was certain it was around 110 i either failed or it was my limit but i don't remember when. this is all i can find
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=100560563&postcount=690

    60 x3
    80 x2
    100 x1
    110 x1
115 x1 okay uncharted territory here
    120 x1
    125 x1
    130 x1 wtfffffffffffffffffffff
    135 xf no lockout
135 x1 a lot of swaying and nonsense i need to work on getting rid of, but definite lockout. more wtffffffff
140 xf no lockout. it was bloody close though.

stopped at that stage. so i guess the 'get it off the floor' bit sorted itself out.
i actually don't know where that came from because i haven't trained sumo over 90 in a year at least. i don't know how i casually stroll into the gym on a sunday evening and all but pull 140.
gonna work on lockout technique or whatever tf was going on there. it's probably my starting position - i'm all over the place pulling it from go. i REALLY need to remember to bring my cons in future because i was terrified i was about to slip on the wooden platform. the videos show me tilting the barbell a bit as well because i was trying to keep my toes on the non-slippy part!!!

    bench
    20 x8
    30 x5
    40 3x5

took about 90 mins in total

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

did a load of hip stretches before sunday's session - did a few today in the gym but less

    squat
    20 x5
    30 x5
    40 x3
    50 x5
    60 3x3
'why are my legs tired? oh yeah the deadlifts on sunday'

    bench
    20 x8
    30 x5
    40 x3
    45 5x3

    tough enough

pulls and cleans but mostly cleans
    20 x3
    25 x2
    30 x1
    35 x2
    37.5 x1
    40 3x1

these felt amazing today - nailed the setup and then completely switched my brain off. i wish i'd recorded them because i have no idea what happened. just went smooth. elbows up.
last 40 turned into the shallowest power clean in existence as i was tired and started thinking again. i wasnt power cleaning the rest

couldn't get near a lat pd AGAIN so MSR
    28 3x10

eating some tesco free from paella. but it's 500 kcals. i might not finish it and eat rocky road instead. although i'm apparently still on a 1000 deficit if i have both
    feeling good

ok ok i'm definitely gonna foam roll after i eat
