Ye, doing some facepulls. prob use the band to add weight to the dumbbell benching as well.

stopped running for a month or so and ended up just going c25k week4+ again to build up but also give me some structure.
rest of the time is playing stardew valley

I used to just have the red band but I added purple, green and orange. Purple is great for OHPs, banded press ups and the like, purple/green for rows, used green for RDLs. Like it's not the same as being under a bar but you do feel the next day that you've done some work.

For all my disparaging the dumbbells, the 5th round of bench was getting pretty heavy

How heavy are your dumbbells? My home workouts ended after two attempts. I just can't do it at home. I switched to cycling for next 3 months.

I found it a struggle too and am doing a lot less volume/exercises than normal tbh but I made a deal with myself to try 2 days a week of 3 set of 5 exercises (would normally hit 5 sets on most stuff in teh "old days") and am sticking to that (I tell myself "it's only 3 sets, HTFU!") Agree with Alf, finding bands decent!

Going with squats, push ups, OHP, one arm rows and deadlifts with a band as my 5 exercises. Its better than nothing I tell myself. And I can still hit 10 push ups so I have that as my maintenance goal / benchmark to aim for over time.

Motivation is hard some days though with work, generally feeling down, other life pressures etc. so go easy on yourself and just focus on "anything is better than nothing - even 1 set". It gets you started anyway!

Sorry for crashing your log bluey!

I have the purple and green one.

There is an orange (83mm) one that has more resistance than the blue that I got off Gymless on Adverts. I really just use this for RDLs. I don't squat with the band. Just sticking to single-leg work and using the 25kg sandbag.

I got a red, black, green and blue from D8 fitness (same as your black one) a few years back. Have just moved on to the black for OHP now as I am a bit more used to it - started with red. The black is good for two arm bent over rows too.

My measurements are different to the ones on their site atm though - my green D8 one is approx 38mm and my blue D8 one is 56mm

Use the blue for DLs, don't use the green much tbh - I find it too much for a lot of upper body and not enough for things like DLs (especially as you're stronger than me!). The purple band could be decent for upper body stuff - wish I had it now (also cos well, purple is a nice colour :o)

Same when I got the slam ball and was trying to lift it off the delivery guy's hand truck wondering why they had glued it to the hand truck....

The relief when I took off the bubble wrap and realised I hadn't lost every gain ever made :D

Is your gym re-opening next week? Are you going back?
Our one is but I'm not rushing back in, I want to see what it's gonna be like with the social distancing measures in place.

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,310 CMod ✭✭✭✭coffee_cake

They'll be open but I'm tempted to try out a closer gym, although the closer one has booking slots. I don't know really
I really miss lifting and doing proper cardio, I've got so unfit, so maybe I will go

Congrats! Did the weights feel heavy? I'm planning to go back this week too but I did nothing the last four months, so it's gonna be interesting!
