    Not sure when you were thinking about, but Its mostly fine. From north strand to ballybough, there are streets beside you. Other stretches have no exit between bridges and between phibsborough and Ashtown, some stretches are very quiet, with canal on one side and undergrowth on the other and overlooked by industrial buildings.

    On weekend mornings/early afternoons it's fine, in good weather plenty of walkers, cyclists, fishermen. I've run it alone but I would always be wary. Having said that, my scariest encounter was with swans!
