    Hi
As many of ye know they economy is a bit banjaxed, jobs are scarce, and the dole is not enough to live on. A friend of mine is looking at the prospect of being homeless in a few months time, currently she is in a house share with students but they all move home for the summer. She is looking for work but due to her age only gets 100 euro a week on the dole, hopefully she gets a job soon but we all know that's easier said then done.

what I am looking to do by posting here is to hopefully get some information about accommodation which someone living off 400 euro a month could afford, and hopefully help my friend avoid homelessness.

A short term solution could be to ask for live in work in one of the hostels?
It might be a dorm bed but would help save money for sure.

There is a Facebook Page for House-Shares / Team-ups etc. in Galway, don't know if it would be of any help. Can't think of what it's called maybe someone else would have the link to it.

daft.ie has a 'max rent' feature that could narrow down accommodation more suited to your friend's budget.

Sometimes in student houses the landlord would drop the rent big time during the Summer just to keep the house occupied and the bills paid.

After that it's best to contact the local welfare office and/or the university welfare office.

House Hunting Galway (for sound people)

It's mostly students and young people so the rent is usually quite cheap. Good place to find affordable accommodation, especially as so many students want to stay around Galway for the summer.
