Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Joes stupid question of the day, "did the house have a bathroom".

I've heard of this happening before - these people should be banned from any social housing / RAS scheme into the future

Put in one of those electricity meters - make them pay for it before they use it

Did he not have a look at the house when he met to get keys back, sort out deposit etc?

This guy was meant to be watching the house for their mate, and he let the tenant destroy it.

    Some houseminder he is!

Well, after seeing what Kim and Aggie encountered every show, nothing like that surprises me any more. There are some right dirty feckers out there.

That would be too sensible and obvious a question to ask. Joe never asks the questions that need to be asked.

I thought they had just left - done a runner - it doesn't sound like the deposit would have covered the damages anyway

Why doesn't Joe cut off people who are obviously dillusional.

I don't believe this fella about his clauses. I don't believe in a sanity clause either.

That's great news about the free house. Only another 3 years so and I get a lovely 5 bed for free - fantastic!

Sounds like a twisted version of adverse possession. I can see how it got garbled in a pub somewhere and just perpetuated.

The limits are there for a reason, otherwise rents will go up even more!

    She's turned down two places.

Now it turns out she could afford her rent all along!?

She has a big f*cking attitude problem.

Feel sorry for the welfare office workers having to deal with this diva, ... and her husband.

You can get a house for approx 450 between New Ross and Waterford, and many other areas outside the City. Move, and shut your complaining cake hole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,060 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I rented a house once, what you do is agree with your landlord that you will tell the authorities the house is 500, even if its 550, then you contribute the extra 50.

    Simples.

There's a lot of holes in a lot of these stories.

Also, there's areas we want to be in but that doesn't mean we're entitled to live there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭Meathlass

What's wrong with a 2 bed apartment - not ideal but better than not getting any rent supplement at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,060 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I cant believe that 550 and this woman can get a great house that keeps her happy, yet at 500 all she is getting is rubbish. All for 50 difference?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,591 ✭✭✭baldbear

Is she looking for a job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,886 ✭✭✭✭Roger_007

This woman is right. Rent allowance is not payable where the TOTAL rent is over the limit set down by the Dept of Social Protection. That effectively caps the rent a landlord can charge and it is way below the going rate in most areas. That is why landlords don't want rent allowance people!

Everywhere has anti-social behaviour these days.

And many of the people in these areas have to work for the privilege to live there.

    She is a beggar.

He's talking about you, not the council!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,060 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

This woman will invent as many excuses as she needs to put Joe off the scent as he was starting to ask difficult questions.

Landlords are entitled to sell their properties if they want to. Get over it. He doesn't owe you a house.

Well, if you qualify, you are

Gov's fall under many things, but it would be a shame to see one fall because those that think they are entitled to everything aren't happy about where they are getting a free house.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭Meathlass

The media are really building this issue up and terrifying people unnecessarily. LL debate on Friday, constantly in the papers and whole LL shows devoted to it. Dave is working and renting privately, he'll be able to get somewhere else but he's freaking out over a council house list which has nothing to do with him.

A working man complaining about his LL selling his own property.

Get over it ya wuss, start looking for another place to live.

If you don't like LLs selling your place, save a deposit and get yourself a mortgage like the rest of us

    Would serve Labour right though.

Making third level too expensive, adding taxes to households, while at the same time making few changes to the welfare bill and saying how great they are for doing the latter.
