Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd pay money to see a steam engine on the Dart. :) It would liven the day up a bit for bored commuters, for sure.

I'll say one thing. At least Philip is moving on without the usual Duffy bias. Same old moaners calling in but they are mercifully being kept fairly short.

Ben Dunne hasn't had anything to do with DS for years, his sister Margaret Heffernan took over as CEO in the 90s (after certain events in Florida).

That reminds me of the story about Stephen Hawkin. He went out on a date and came back covered in cuts and bruises. When his friends asked what happened., he said "she stood me up! the bitch".....

12 weeks of sick leave a year - tough for an employer to plan for that.

Who wants to employ people like this? She has just asked and answered her own question. So what is her point? She has an illness that precludes her holding down a job. The fact that the illness is mental health is immaterial.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,529 ✭✭✭Mike Guide 69

    Why Phillip???

Depression should have no more social stigma than a heart complaint or back problems (i.e. none), but if I were an employer, I would view anyone who could potentially be out of work for 25% of a year (for whatever health / mental health issue they may have) with a jaundiced eye.

Not along would I not be keen to employ her, but I would not like to be working with her. If somebody is constantly out sick, the employer may not be able to afford to pay for a temporary replacement especially if he is alsopaying her sick pay, and her colleagues may have to cover her work as well as their own. Not ideal, to put it lightly.

The bleach was from a frustrated zombie apocalypse attack.

Off to a good start PBH.

Last time he got bogged down though, hopefully the 'researchers' and the 'producer' have some good stories lined up and lots of callers.

That caller is absolutely right. I'm afraid I think most politicians are in it for their own personal gain/publicity but we expected a socialist party, to actually balance out some of the hardships for the people - not just bend over and go on and on about what type of economy they inherited....crisis blah blah blah
