Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Never get talking to a caller to Liveline if you meet one in the street.

Chances are, you'll die sooner than you expected.

Some priest from the locality.......I assume he thinks his little donation will absolve the Church of any further responsibility...

I couldn't see Boucher Hayes slumming it with the likes of June Rodgers and the rest of the lumpenproletariat, while Syl Fox tells him mother-in-law jokes in his ear.

Why is the Catholic church so obsessed with the unborn after they've shown themselves lacking any compassion for the born?

The scheme for the people to find their natural families.

Why haven't their natural families tried to find their children? I'll never understand.

Coincidently I was watching Quirke last night about Mother and Baby homes and children adopted in America.

We really treated pregnant women like **** in this country back then.

Why did this woman's family not take her home......they could have done. Yet she has no criticism for her family at all........strange!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,872 ✭✭✭Sittingpretty

    This is horrific.

Organised religion and the Catholic Church have an awful lot to answer for. As do the families of these women who had children unmarried.

When I hear this I think of my great grandfather who in 1928, welcomed his daughter AND her baby born in US out of wedlock into his rural county Limerick home. He was a widow and had raised three daughters and two sons alone. He didn't give a damn what other people thought of his daughter. It's an awful pity the likes of him were very much a minority.

I know I don't mean to be particularly harsh.

Just that time and time again, I've heard of them being even visited by their families in these places, yet completely ignored by them.

They've been doubly persecuted I feel.

And I don't think their families are innocent in all this.

It's the families who were ultimately responsible for all this. Yet everyone starts blaming the Church and the nuns and the state. This is obviously the start of a campaign to get redress, (money), for these "forced" adoptions. As the state is the only party likely to pay up, that's where the blame has to be laid.

he must have read the instructions joe left on how to interview an emotional caller

Phillp handled that call very well I think.

None of the poor petal stuff and my God sighs it would have got from Joe.

He even put aside the usual 14.58 ad break to let her speak.

fúck them and their 'decent burial', what about treating them decent when the the poor little innocents were alive?

Its a warzone over at mooneys place. slaughter of the innocents. A book of condolences and a national day of mouring for the tits.

Why the hell is RTE letting him indulge in this stuff?

Someone texted in with a similar question. He more or less told them to go to a different station if they didn't like it.

I honestly can't see it happening, and there have been no plugs for it. The Unfunny Comics must be gnashing their teeth that a nice little regular earner isn't taking place.
