Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Exactly - and they can claim it from you for a longer time, is it seven years?
Inequitable, but at least it's a limit.

I wouldn't mind seeing the likes of Ray Burke getting a letter requesting to pay back a portion of his pension for having been involved in corrupt activity while in office.

    Wake up Harry........this is Oireland?

its scraping the barrel there must be very little left

Around €700 million alone was saved on cracking down on social welfare fraud last year and correcting errors in the like of overpayments etc. Not an insignificant amount.

Should it not be kept? It is an important part of history in the country and shouldn't be swept under the carpet. Not to be nasty but in 75 years they aren't going to be alive to know whether it is opened or not

There is another aspect to this........suppose it was suspected that she made a false claim or lied? If the testimony was destroyed there would be no way of proving it.
Is she afraid of her past being known in the circles that she now inhabits?

Surely the names of the people involved won't be printed on these documents, I thought all these statements were just of a "male aged 50" type without any personal details.

The problem in Ireland is that we generally have a "justice" system that favours the perpetrator not the victim.

Lenient sentences to violent attacks, rape, etc were all tolerated by the media, politicians, RTÉ -

this comes back to haunt them when the industrial schools, bankers, etc are the perpetrators.

Suddenly, they realise how the multitude feel to be helpless victims.

RTÉ Radio 1 is about to reach a new low in it's efforts to dumb down. :(

Sounds utterly riveting. I'll be tuning to WRN on satellite, listening to the joys of Radio Korea or Deutsche Welle, or somesuch.

Of course, the majority of students wouldn't have got a proper night's sleep.

    Which is a huge disadvantage.

Systemic, systemic, systemic, systemic, systemic, systemic, systemic.

Word of the day, and nobody told me.

She did have a point, mind you - they were plain lied to, least the authorities could have done was admitted it to them personally.

I'm just listening back to the show from today. I'm eight minutes into the forty four minutes discussion on the leaving cert. Jesus, Enda Kenny surely has enough to be doing without sorting this out. I'd be worried as to how she got a number for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,368 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Jesus it's chicken pox FFS. It's not nice but it's not life threatening and if you've had it you can't get it twice. Joe makes it sound like its the black death.
