I haven't listened in ages and didn't read the thread but I assume Joe is in misery porn heaven this week after the Tuam story broke? I'd imagine he has a horn on him that's so hard he could fashion a diamond from stone with no hands.

Realistically, if you were abused and starved and worked like a dog like these people for 15 to 20 years, what do you think should happen? The State should be blamed, as well as the religious and society as a whole, but the State has the responsibility for its citizens and if it stood back and let these children be abused then yes, they are to blame :mad:

This story reminds me of my grandmother - she was married but after the birth of her 7th child she had post natal depression and was sent to a mental institution where she remained for 26 years and died there. She was never brought ome again. My father and his siblings never ever spoke of her, such was the shame 'she brought on the family'. Shocking stuff altogether.

Teresa's grandmother's story sounds quite similar to Philomena Lee's, in that her brother was the one who brought her to the home. Must have been very sad for the

People who say things like this have absolutely NO idea of the stranglehold which
