Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shure lads we may as well ask.

what was liveline doing about this back in the 80s under marion?

It was all about moving statues.......now we know why they were moving; they were trying to emigrate out of this awful country.

Jesus H Christ.... Misery misery and more misery... Where's ever there is happiness Joe goes right around it and straight to the misery section....

I'm also hugely concerned about where I walk since hearing about of the women who fell pregnant.. I thought you could only get pregnant by having sexual intercourse with a person of the opposite sex, but I was obviously wrong.

you sooooooooooooooo clever, u don't miss much do ya

    Shower if baxtards joe.

An investigation will do nothing. Just look at Sean Brady who wouldn't even resign over his failure to act over Brendan Smyth.

No accountability. Will it ever change?

what was liveline doing about this back in the 80s under marion?

Anyone else remember when she played music during liveline and she played the theme song from Resevoir Dogs after speaking to a fella from Cabra who had his ear cut off? Or Cher's Walking in Memphis when discussing problems a chap was having with his wheelchair?

Of course, it was all purely accidentaly, according to Marzie...

I haven't listened in ages and didn't read the thread but I assume Joe is in misery porn heaven this week after the Tuam story broke? I'd imagine he has a horn on him that's so hard he could fashion a diamond from stone with no hands.

You can be assured that the stories will be ramped up to maximise the chances of substantial compo at the end of the process.......the 'state' will be blamed for everything.........

    You're not serious are you?

Realistically, if you were abused and starved and worked like a dog like these people for 15 to 20 years, what do you think should happen? The State should be blamed, as well as the religious and society as a whole, but the State has the responsibility for its citizens and if it stood back and let these children be abused then yes, they are to blame

What an awful life Mary has had.

As if living her childhood years in a 'care home' wasn't bad enough, she then spent her adult years in Dagenham.

I just sent in a email to Joes researcher to see if it could be brought up for discussion, then again Joe is getting great mileage out of this.........

As well as church and state being answerable the families of these women and babies have to shoulder a lot of resonsibility too, as indeed does society as a whole.

This story reminds me of my grandmother - she was married but after the birth of her 7th child she had post natal depression and was sent to a mental institution where she remained for 26 years and died there. She was never brought ome again. My father and his siblings never ever spoke of her, such was the shame 'she brought on the family'. Shocking stuff altogether.

Teresa's grandmother's story sounds quite similar to Philomena Lee's, in that her brother was the one who brought her to the home. Must have been very sad for the
woman's mother never to be able to see her daughter again. Thought those few little letters carried a lot of heartbreak. Men owned the property and the women of the house had to toe the line.

As well as church and state being answerable the families of these women and babies have to shoulder a lot of resonsibility too, as indeed does society as a whole.

People who say things like this have absolutely NO idea of the stranglehold which
the church and state had on the lives of people in the past. Constant fear of getting
on the wrong side of them and having to deal with the consequences if you did.

I'm glad we didn't qualify for the World Cup , very difficult to brandish the tricolour with pride at the moment , looks like this state was usurped by ethnic cleansing right wing catholic nut jobs from the early 1920s onwards , manifested and rubber stamped by mr DEvaleras 1937 constitution .
