Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I bet some travel agent or airline will be on before the end of the show offering to send Paddy to Oz for his brother's funeral.

That's one plug I certainly wouldn't begrudge them.

Anyone else thinking that all this might not have happened if the Brits had not left Ireland in 1921? Maybe we would have a different legacy, certainly not a worse one than all this clerical-related stuff.

I used to think my mother had a sad life as her father had died when she was very young and her mother had to emigrate. But she was lucky to have had grandparents
to care for her. It sends shivers up my spine to think what might have happened to her

There was just as much crap and sweeping things under the carpet in Britain in the times in question. It went on here for a bit longer, but the rural attitudes in many parts of Britain were just as stuck in the past.

Had reason to visit Dublin myself recently. Hasn't been in city centre in probably over 10 years.

Was ASTOUNDED by the sheer number of the "unwell" wandering around.

    And I'm from *GASP* ....Limerick

Have thought that on occasions. For a start, the industrial schools would have been
    closed down in the 30s.
